Have avoided this pub for some years due to boring beer choice. Last month decided to give it a try. Delighted to discover on tap 2 days running a Ruby Mild from Ilkley Brewery. New to me and very nice too.

Westons Old Rosie on handpump also very pleasant.

Have not been in here for many years, but heard it had recently been refurbished or under new ownership and now had an impressive selection of real ales, so thought it would be worth a revisit. I have to say it was pretty underwhelming! Not a very adventurous selection of real ales, though went for a pint of Pendle Witches Brew which was fine. The carpet looks like it may well have been the same carpet that was down 10+ years ago when I last visited. As others have noted, it is pretty much a Wetherspoons-esque pub. Service at the bar was a bit slow, there seems to be enough staff and not a massive queue of customers, but somehow it just seemed to take a while to get served. Probably wouldn't rush to go back - there are much better establishments in the area.

A sort of Wetherspoon's a few doors away from the real McCoy. Does the same thing at much the same price. I prefer it because it is not a JDW, not that I am a snob (I rather like some of them), but because it seems more pub-like. Wetherspoon's look like pubs but are really McDonald's for grown ups. I had a pint of Bombardier (2.69), quite satisfactory, and found a leaning perch without trouble. Bar was a bit crowded with post work drinkers but the staff coped well.

Great range of beers, Barman also very helpful when deciding on choice. Food well priced. Agree with some of the comments that its got a weatherspoons feel to it but 100 percent worth a visiting if you've just rolled out of piccadilly station

I visited this pub on 2nd February along with about 25 other friends who used to work together at Butlins Minehead many years ago. Our ages ranged from mid 50s to early 60s so we are not rowdy lager and shots drinkers. We met just after 13.00 and had been in there about six hours, so you can imagine the amount of money that had been spent! I was wearing a trilby as is my want and a bloke who worked the door came up to me and said "Take that hat off" to which I replied "Pardon" to which he said " I said take that hat off NOW or I'm throwing you out" His attitude put a real spoiler on all of us so we just upped and went. What a disgraceful way to treat people also the beer was no more than average to be honest. Shocking attitude to people who were no threat to anyone.I would recommend total avoidance of this place and how it got into the Good Beer| Guide is a mystery to me
