The Brook House Inn, Boot

Visited here as a party of 7. Staff very accommodating - squeezed us in (although I don't expect they would be able to manage that in busier periods). The food was fantastic - restaurant quality. Lovely atmosphere. Tasty beer. Friendly people in the bar. Can't fault it. Will definitely return here.

The Woolpack Inn, Boot

The staff are brilliant - really friendly. The beer tastes good. Sadly everything else lets this pub down. It's been refurbed to be really modern with a giant sports TV which is completely out of place with its location. It was really cold - someone lit the fire but it went out. The food was very tasty but just insufficient - the delicious fish pie with plenty of fish in it came with just a small handful of sugar snap peas. I was expecting more as I had asked if it came with veg - it looked really inadequate on the plate. The tasty burgers were tiny. The caramelised beetroot salad was sadly not caramelised but appeared to be a bit of chopped beetroot out of a packet on top of some lettuce. The pizza was very good though.
Couldn't fault the lovely staff but next time I'll go to the Brook House Inn or the Boot Inn down the road as it is worth the walk.

Unicorn Hotel, Ripon

It's a wetherspoons. The air con was on so high I needed to wear my coat. Every beer I tried ran out and although the manager said it takes 40 mins to clean the lines to put a new beer on, the beers that were 'coming soon' when we arrived were still 'coming soon' when we left a few hours later. I wouldn't go back even though the starter to share platter was not greasy at all and was very tasty and crispy. There are much better pubs in ripon.

The Water Rat, Ripon

Nice feel but inside feels a bit tired. staff are friendly. Most seating overlooks the river in an extension or outside - nice setting. Good beer. Good pub food. When I looked at their website it gave me the impression it was a nasty chain pub which it is not. Short walk from town. You might miss it as the sign from the main road says something like riverside pub rather than the name. Do a good food special on a Wednesday eve - one of their main dishes and a chosen pudding for a crazily cheap price which none of us chose of course.

Royal Oak, Ripon

Came here pretty regularly while staying in Ripon because of convenient location and nice feel. Good quality pub food. Nice Timothy Taylor landlord. Attentive staff.

The One Eyed Rat, Ripon

Friendly welcome. Nice environment. Lovely range of beer to sample. Along with lagers and fruit wines. A proper, nice pub. No food, just good drinks. Great local pub feel. Definitely worth a visit and worth the walk out of town.
