The White Swan, Covent Garden

Along with KiwiPhil, I would like to ask where have all the good bar staff gone? Used to drink in here regularly a few years ago and popped back in last night, wish I hadn't of bothered.

The Barmaid shortchanged me for a 20 note (Gave me change for a 10 note) and then got very abusive when I challenged her. She then proceeded to serve around me next time I had the audacity to order another drink.

Won't be rushing back.

The Bar at tcr, Tottenham Court Road

Full of red faced men, swearing and burping at the bar. Not for me Thank You

The Pilot Inn, North Greenwich

Cracking food and very friendly and prompt service. Nice beer garden when the sun is out. Slight critiscim is the lack of parking when it gets busy (Particularly on a Sunday afternoon)

Flying Saucer, Hempstead

Cheap and cheerful is the best description for this boozer. From the cheap pub grub (Steak and Chips for 4), to the Fosters at 2 a pint, the Saucer does exactly what it looks like it should! A darts board and jukebox which can both be difficult to get onto give it a real traditional pub feel.

Largely a locals pub, however outsiders (not a bad option for away supporters going to watch Gillingham) are made to feel welcome

The Sussex, Covent Garden

A very average pub! Echo most of the comments below; very busy and difficult to get served Thu-Sat. Relatively good atmosphere in fairness and a proper pub as opposed to some of the pretentious bars nearby

The Green Man and French Horn, Covent Garden

The best pub in the tourist trap that is the West end. A regular in here for 10 years, I still manage to get in there a couple of times a month and am treated like I've never been away. Low turnover of bar staff and loyal locals make this a rare experience in the West End; a friendly, personable pub.
PS Not a place to eat!

The Fuzzy Duck, Armscote

Best food in the area IMO. Was impressed as below with the service and thought the diverse menu offered very good value for money

The Howard Arms, Ilmington

Food very poor value for money despite decent menu selection . Locals very snooty and pretentious. The Red Lion down the road offers more of a friendly welcome

The Spanish Galleon, Greenwich

Echo the sentiments about the Ale being poorly kept. Shepherd Neame are done absolutely no favours by the slop served up in here. Friendly bar staff a plus point.

The Mitre, Greenwich

Good place for a Sunday roast, particularly in the summer when the small beer garden comes into play. A bit frustrating that they dont serve food beyond 6 o'clock as potentially a nice pub to stop in on the way home for a pint and a bite to eat. Can get packed on a Sunday when the football is on.

St Christopher's Inn, Greenwich

Beer is overpriced and general bar area and toilets are a little on the dirty side. Bar staff are generally oblivious to waiting punters. That said, it is a half decent alternative to the packed Auctioneer when the football is on.
Friday and Saturday nights are ok if you are desperate for a late drink and dont mind the abundance of 16-17 Year old locals!

The Duchess, Greenwich

Drank here regularly for a few years, not the pub to take your missus to, to show her a good time. Dirty floors and pint glasses with even grimmer toilets. Locals ok, but bar staff generally obnoxious.

The Rose of Denmark, Charlton

Lovely local boozer, with Dermot (Landlord) and Kath (Landlady) offering a very warm welcome. Best pint of Guinness in Charlton IMO. Decent Plasma TV and nice and warm in the winter.

The Antigallican, Charlton

Handy only for the close proximity to the station. Not unfriendly, but lifeless and drab inside. Lager not especially well treated

The Royal Exchange, Paddington

Love this pub. First went there in 1972 and in fairness it hasn't been decorated since. If you are after a well treated lager, some cracking home cooked food and dont mind a smokey ambience its one of the best pubs in the area. My one gripe is that there was no Groove Amada on the jukebox!!
