Monk's Bridge Farm Pub Restaurant, Dinnington

Been here a few times, the ploughmans was weird. Plenty of salad, but grated cheese!? What's that all about. We were sat inside on a really hot day. There wasn't any air con and it was boiling. It does have outdoor seating and a kids play area, but you couldn't sit outside to eat. OK place for families.
Took my dad for belated fathers day: 16/06/2013 cost £45.74 for 6 people was great value round of drinks £12.68.

The Riverside Cafe Bar, Sheffield

No wifi. No John Smiths. No J20s and they ran out of orange juice.
Nice outdoor seating area.
I had a Cajun chicken burger, definitely not worth the £8 something it cost, burger was nice enough, a little small and only came with about 3 chips, a small sprinkling of side salad. Although its nice to sit outside I don't think we will bother eating here again.

The Mossbrook, Sheffield

Meals for two - starters. Came to 50

I had prawn cocktail, came with brown bread in a massive fish bolw thing. Preitty good.
Chez had battered mushrooms (only got about 4 but said they were nice).
I had hunters chuicken for main.
Chez had the mixed seafood grill.

Really nice place, they sell John Smiths (I had 2 pints) and Chez had the house wine (2 glasses) there were loads of different ones for her to choose from.
Will definately be going again.
Went again Wednesday 15th June 2011 for the Steak night.
I've had better steaks, but for the price 50 for three of us wasn't bad including a bottle of wine and 2 pints of John Smiths.
Ohh you get a free glass of whine when you add yourself to the mailing list on their website.

Went again on my birthday seeing as they gave me a free bottle of Champaign. Lovely meal too. Nice cold John Smiths

Treble Bob, Barlborough

Too expensive :(

Romans Rest, Worksop

Went for the first time (Wednesday night 03/08/2011).
(the bill came to over 20 for two of us).
We both had starters - prawn cocktails, however they didnt come with any sauce, but had a separate tiny little pot on the side of the plate (I love the sauce and is the only reason I ever have prawn cocktail so was rather disappointed).
I had the sirloin steak and Cheryl had Fajita's. I asked for the steak to be cooked medium rare, but was a bit too rare for me, could have done with a bit longer. It was supposed to be 8oz however had about 4oz of fat on it :( Beer prices were good and they did server John Smiths. Atmosphere was drab, there wasn't any background music playing though and all you could hear was chav FM every time the kitchen door was flung open. Does have a beer garden that looked like it would be good in the sunshine & even a kids play area at the end of the building.
Not somewhere I would rush back to, but the service was good (no one else in the pub though) and food was average for that kind of pub (could have been better). Not great value for money but wasnt a complete rip-off.

The Unicorn, Worksop

Sadly now closed.

The Mavrix, Worksop

The most noticeable good thing I can say about this place was the DJs whenever I've visited. They always seem to play some different stuff. More Funky House, Hardcore and a wide variety of more "underground" music not like you get in the night club, and stuff you would hear anywhere else in town.

Personally I appreciated it because it was different to anywhere else, but everyone else I was with hated it.
I've not been in for a while so guess it will be under new management yet again. Suprised it's stayed open as long it has this time round. But it's now open until 2am Friday and Saturday nights. So probably better off staying there rather than paying to go to the night club.

Best thing: Different sorts of what I would say is better music an alternative to all the chart rubbish.

Worste thing: Small, dark and dingy. If you go to the toilet everyone in the pub gets an eyefull of your todger. Oh and it's seen as beeing a bit of a chav's pub...

Things might change now it's open longer and people will be staying there instead of going to the club

The Swan Hotel, Worksop

It's a little back ally pub at the top end of Worksop. The lads that run it now seem sound to me. It's just a shame it's location isn't good and it's reputation let's it down. It's becoming famous for is't live amature bands and has just recently had a colum in the local paper. If you have been to the Frog and Nightgown you will know what I'm talking about.
If your going for a night out I wouldn't reccoment it unless your into your heavy metal / mosher rock scene. Aparently they make some good cocktails if your into that kind of thing.

The Top House, Worksop

Used to be the best pub in Worksop, but have sadly put the prices up
Can't see any need to go all way up to the top of town now?

The snaps apparently better than it was, but I liked it how it used to be. 2.99 plus a pint. Couldn't go wrong.

It now has music, but you can't really tell coz they just have it on quiet as a bit of background music. Better than nothing I suppose.

Best thing: Beer garden for the summer, it used to be much bigger and nicer though.

Worste thing: It's never been the same since they put the prices up and they always push you out the door at closing time.

The Grafton Hotel, Worksop

Good little pub. Cheap beer ! Last time I was in quite a while ago now, one thing that bugged me is the regulars sit on stools at the bar and when it's busy you have to more or less sit on their knee's to get serverd coz there's no way they will move. lol.

The Carlton Tavern, Worksop

An OK pub, a bit small and a bit too far from town to visit often, but I found it to be good the last time I went in.

The Bondhay, Whitwell

Although this is a golf club, the bar is open to the public and they serve food all week. Bad point's is that once all the golfers have gone home (usually when it gets dark) the bar closes too, so it's not very often you can go for a drink or a meal in the evening.

Liquorice Gardens, Worksop

Since the top house changed, it's the only place to get a cheap(ish) Pint. So it's now turned into the meeting place to begin any night out.

The only bad thing about it is that it's too open plan. and it gets really noisy not having any music and people talking. It's like sitting in the school dinner hall. Has a little patio area, but is really small and your lucky if you can find a seat in the summer.

In the winter it's really cold inside too. I remember having to sit there with my coat on all night once coz it was that cold.

The first time I have eaten in the Liquirice Gardens it was OK except it was still freezing, not many in seeing as it was Monday night. The food was fine, not too expensive.

Worste thing: No atmosphere, too noisy, sounds like the school dinner hall because it's open plan and everyone try's to talk louder than everyone elese because there isn't any music.

Best thing: Cheapish beer. Good place to start.

Disraelis, Worksop

I can't work out why this place isn't more popular than it is? Looks great inside, also has a nice little patio area outside for the sunny days (could do with beeing made bigger or turned into a beer garden type thing like the top house used to have).

As for the Dj's I've never really stayed long enough to comment, but sempt OK to me.

The Woodhouse Inn, Woodend

This little pub just outside Rhodesia is brilliant. The food is great the beer is spot on, they have a massive beer garden great in the summer. Nice and cosey in the winter, sky sports on the big screen, music quiz's & entertainment all the time. The management and staff are great. Tap room is keept for local's but that's fine as Rhodesia is a bit rough anyway. Proper village pub. Can't fault it. Wonder how the new houses all around it will affect it? Will have to wait and see.

Leeds Arms, South Anston

Cosey little pub. Apparently it's got a reputation for being a bit rough, but was nice and friendly when I visited.

14 Nov 2006 13:32

The Shireoaks Inn, Worksop

A bit of an "old man's pub". But really freiendly people, great quizes, pool table, sky sports on the big screen. Decent beer, reasonable prices. What more could you want?

The management and staff are brilliant too,
Oh and they never seem to close ever which is a bonus!

If you are eating out in town, but want to get away from all the chav's. Then this little pub is great.

14 Nov 2006 13:03

The Unicorn, Worksop

Worksop's best pub without a doubt. A night out 'round town wouldn't be complete without a drink in the Unicorn. The music is always great the Dj's get's you in the mood to party! (I try to anyway). They even have Karaoke on Sunday nights. As long as I have been going out round worksop the Unicorn's always been one of the best pubs and always will be thanks to top management by Daz & Vicky. The bar staff are great too!
