A genuinely good pub these days.
Great selection of real ales, decently kept and usually served fairly well. Staff are always friendly and the pub itself is clean and comfortable.

Brigantes Bar and Brasserie, York
Absolutely exceptional pub, have been raving about to all who will listen ever since visiting yesterday evening!
Eight real ales on the handpumps, all kept and served impeccably. Also a wide range of imported lagers and beers. Service was exceptional, I cannot praise the young lady and gentleman at the bar enough, both were doing a wonderful job. I felt as welcome as if I had been a regular for years and the staff genuinely appeared to care about their products and customers.
I also had the pleasure of sampling the food and again, perfect. I would gladly have paid twice the money in a decent restaurant for what was presented to me, delicious!
Will definitely return next time I'm in York, not to be missed!

Was a very good local when Andy was the landlord. Unfortunately it has recently closed, and will shortly be reopening as a swingers' club! I really wish I was joking, but this is the god honest truth.
I suspect there won't be any real ales on offer following the reopening!

The Head of Steam, Huddersfield
Nowhere near as good as it used to be. Still a reasonable selection of real ales, but guests are frequently off and staff are more often than not clueless on how to pour them. Expect to be treated with contempt if you request a top up!
Food is decent, but now somewhat overpriced. Drinks are fast becoming extortionate.

Now closed (again), whether it will reopen remains to be seen.
Fairly standard, small, dingey rock pub. Fantastic if you're a regular, scary if you're not! Terrible beer, but reasonably priced.

The Parish, Huddersfield
Alternative pub, gets loud at night. Serves real ale, however quality is poor and staff could do with some training.
