The Ashton Arms, Oldham

Cracking boozer in centre of Oldham, with an outstanding selection of real ales. Top notch pint of Salamander Brewery "Spectrum". Disappointed with the slightly offish reaction to charging ones mobile phone in there!

Bar Fringe, Manchester

Pleasant hour or so in here on a Saturday evening, great selection of real ales, belgian beers and other tipples. Recommend the Limmerman Peach Lambic, very refreshing.

The Ackhorne, York

Went here early Saturday evening, good selection of ales and homemade pork pies with different toppings (black pudding one was good!).

The Maltings, York

Visited after football on way back to station, very busy for early Saturday evening but easy to see why when the choice of ales and other drinks on offer was of high standard. York CAMRA town pub of the season for Summer 2012 - again, easy to see why.

The Old White Swan, York

Went here on a Saturday lunchtime before going to the football. The staff were very welcoming and attentive. A good choice of ales and of good quality, the service and food were both good. Worth a visit.

The Last Drop Inn, York

York Brewery pub but had selection of guest ales. York Brewery: Guzzler, Ghost Ale and Yorkshire Terrier and also Ilkley Brewery "Pure Gold". Pleased with the choice of ales, staff were friendly and knowledgeable, sadly let down by a rather grumpy manageress who didn't seem particularly happy to be asked questions!!

The Railway Hotel, Greenfield

Went here on a Sunday afternoon to watch the football and drink some real ale - wasn't disappointed with the choice and quality of the beer. Had Millstone "Tiger Rut", Moorhouses "Blonde Witch" and Copper Dragon "Golden Pippin" and were all fantastic. Great place to visit for a change from the city and easy to get too.

The Castle Hotel, Manchester

Visited this pub late Friday afternoon, was impressed with the outstanding selection of fine ales, including a cracking pint of Titanic "White Star". Defo worth a visit.

The City Arms, Manchester

Very pleasant, traditional pub with great decor and leather seats. A great selection of ales. Bar staff friendly and was impressed with the book selection - which you can buy. Highly recommended

The Grey Horse Inn, Manchester

Had pint of Hydes Original, 1863 and Jekyll & Hyde, all of good standard and great prices. Barmaid very pleasant and helpful.

The Coeur de Lion, Bath

Visited on a Sunday lunchtime, was busy but it's a small pub so not difficult! And the bar staff were fairly attentive.

Beer was good, food average although the description on the menu was not mirrored by what was on the plate!

However the only downside was the continuous playing of Whitney HOuston tribute music!!!

Defo worth visiting the pub though.

The Raven, Bath

Great little pub, a hidden gem. The beer was excellent, good quality and well served by a pleasant barman who was more than happy to let me try a beer rather than buy a whole pint. Also, the extensive list of pies/snacks on offer looked very tempting! Recommend it.

The Bulls Head, Burslem

Visited this pub before a Port Vale game, had a fine pint of Titanic "White Star".

Also had a quality pint of TItanic "Iceberg" and a special commemorative beer "Remembrance".

Very busy as one of the Port Vale pre-match pubs, however welcoming of away fans.

Definitely recommend it and will return if in the area.

The White Star, Stoke-on-Trent

Visited this pub before a Port Vale game, had a pint of guest ale White Horse "Giant Stairs", excellent pint.

Enjoyed it so much we went back after the game before heading to the station. Had a well-kept, well-served pint of TItanic "Anchor" and 2 pints of Titanic "Steerage".

Great bar staff and very pleasant customers.

Definitely recommend it and will return if in the area.

The Victoria, Bayswater

Revisited this pub on a Friday lunchtime (again finding it by accident!), the bar staff were friendly and the Fuller's beer was good. Enjoyed it so much went back on the next evening and for Sunday lunch, which was recommended although a little bit pricey however that's London!!

Make sure you make a visit, it's worth walking a few minutes from Paddington Station as it's miles better than the ones near the station.

The Ship Inn, Wandsworth

Great pub with decent Young's beers, had a good pint of Youngs Gold which I'd not tried before. Being a Saturday night it was unsurprisingly busy and the place had a real vibe.

Thoroughly recommend this pub.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

This is a great pub, seems quite popular. the staff were friendly and the beer is good, brewed by Sam Smiths Brewery - no mainstream stuff on sale.

The Coach and Horses, Leyton

Visited on Saturday 30th August before Leyton Orient v Cheltenham. Not busy when we arrived at 1pm but soon filled up.

Yes - Lionel Ritchie still works there!! The bar staff put the cricket on for us Gloucestershire fans (!) and there was some friendly banter with the bar staff.

Went in after the game too, and chatted with very friendly locals/Orient fans.

Didn't stay for the evening singalong disco which looked like good entertainment.

Recommended pub.
