The Warren, Hounslow

I used to take the familly here in the afternoon during the summer months in the 90's. It had a nice vibe at that time of the day. Also used to go there to watch Big football games. Another pub I am afraid that is a victim of the smoking ban and high priced beer. Such a bloody shame that these places close and are lost forever.

The South Western, Whitton

Another pub that back in the 1980's was a lovely friendly place to drink. I used to take my study work there in the evening when I was quaifying in my mid twenties and it used to be a really calm place to drink.
Whitton Dene was a place that people aspired to live believe-it-or-not and the pub was always well frquented by decent artisans and proffessional people.
The area has changed now and as such this has become another pub that has died away...So very sad that Pubs cannot make a decent go of it and are closing at the rate of 5 per week across the UK.

County Arms, Isleworth

I used to live a mile or so from the County Arms pub. I spent many a night in there with my dad and neighbours and friends of all ages. It was such a great well run pub. Murrey and Mary the Landlord& Lady kept the place spotless and there wasn't ever any trouble.
The beer was great andFriday / Saturday and Sunday lunchtimes the place was always packed. - This was back in the early 1980's.
I came back to the area a few times in the 90's to visit the inlaws and the pub had really changed - basically it became quite a scummy sort of threatening place with mouthy off-putting clientel.
The demographic of the local population had changed into non pub goers and as such the pub withered away ..I have real pangs of pain thinking of the great nights in there with friends and family that will never happen again. A postumous rating of 10 out of 10 for my drinking time in the Arms as a late teen early twentysomthing

The Magpie, Sunbury on Thames

I've visited the Magpie on many occaisions over the years, and it is such a roller coaster of an experience. You can go there and have a brilliant time, then they seem to change the manager and it goes back to being an under used, unwelcoming, rather boring place.
This has been the recurring cycle for 10 or so years.
The managers, who left in July 2010, really turned the pub around, had personality and made the pub a very busy vibrant and entertaining place to drink and eat. Then they leave and we are back to hit and miss food and less than engaging service.
