The Duke of Cambridge, Battersea

This pub was taken over in late May by a new landlord, and all new staff. Much better than before! They have had some problems in the kitchen, but have now gotten rid of the chef. The new one is much better!! It is a bit pricey (like most Youngs pubs), but worth a visit, it's got that Casablanca look to it, if you put some fans on the ceiling that is...

The Coopers Arms, Chelsea

A real nice laid-back gastropub. No music and no loud annoying telly sounds showing sports, so you can enjoy chatting to your friends...or the locals if you fancy! Friendly attentive bar staff.

Food and beer is really nice. Also it is possible to book tables for lunch or dinner, except Sundays. (They only do lunch on Sundays and it does get busy).

Would recommend strongly (if you're looking to have a meal and relax rather than party hard)!

The Turf Tavern, Oxford

This could be a "hidden gem", however it is in the guidebooks...thats how we found it! Service was good, however they closed off a part of the bar leaving a small que at the other side for the rest of the night... One of the most interesting pubs I have ever been to though! I will definitely go back there next time I'm in Oxford!

The Masons Arms, Marylebone

Horrible. Someone please draw a smile on the face of the girl that works there!

The Three Tuns, Windsor

OK pub, OK prices, good music...other than that nothing special!

O'Neills, Earls Court

Bar staff was OK, one of them was really apologetic when she discovered they didnt have the wine I asked for chilled...
Mixed crowd of rude "men" with a disgraceful attitude, one who proceeded to breathe down my neck as he left, and young and old normal people...Hope this pub dont attract too many w****ers though..
Overall the pub seemed nice enough to go back to!

The Scarsdale Tavern, Kensington

Lovely location and nice pub. I went there on a Sat. afternoon/evening and the pub wasnt particularly busy, most people seem to come there for a meal. Food looked nice, but didnt try myself. Seemed a bit pricey, but guess you pay for the area you drink in!
Found the staff to be a bit moody and arrogant, and the supervisor was a horribly rude lady...Heard from a local that the regulars wanted to complain about her to the manager even...
But as long as you stay away from the staff you could have a lovely evening here...

The White Hart, Fulham Broadway

Had a hair of a dog here...all I can say is the seating was extremely uncomfortable...Manager started talking to me but couldnt understand what he was on about, he was nice enough though...OK pub, but wonder what its like in the evening.

The Prince Regent, Marylebone

Nice selection of wine and not too pricey. This cosy pub was neither too crowdy nor too empty. The barman was really nice, good to see staff with some character, itd be hard to miss him..!!! Had a really nice evening here.

Prince Of Wales, Covent Garden

Was here one Saturday night, was quite busy but we managed to get a table. Wine and drinks were nice and the staff was friendly enough! Had a really good time and would probably go back.

The Glasshouse Stores, Piccadilly Circus

What a strange experience!! I have never heard of the beers they sell...or the liqour for that matter. But it was a really nice pub, and beer being so cheap in the West End...who can complain!! However they could try and make it a bit cosier...thought the lighting was horrible..

The Kings Arms, Mayfair

Had a few drinks here last night, staff ok (at first), but was rather annoyed when they kept reminding you how many minutes was left to finish your drink( and they started whining about this 2 sec after they sold the last drink)...I mean..they even came up to the table and asked you to finish your drink quickly..it was ten past 11 (I didnt have much left in my glass)!!! So didnt feel welcome at all in the end. Too rude to go back to!

Windsor Castle, Marylebone

Very small, almost claustrophobic, pub. But in general quite nice. Warm and welcoming staff. Thai food is excellent.

The Duke Of Wellington, Marylebone

Was here a quiet afternoon for a glass of wine, both the landlord and Australian (?) barmaid were very friendly and welcoming. Got a few looks from the locals, but they were probably just curious who this 'new' girl was.. Good old fashioned and charming pub!

The Larrik, Marylebone

Been here on two separate occations, both in the afternoon...First time I found it quite relaxing and nice, however second time around I found the bar staff to be very arrogant and annoying (the barman obviously thought it was more important to fill the glasswasher and talk to his friend than serving me), there were more costumers this time but found them all to be very pretentious...Im not gonna go back there!

The Globe, Baker Street

OK pub, but seem to attract some real w******! There was a small fight when me and my friends were in there...but was soon resolved. The staff was friendly...and overall it wasnt all that bad..

Oxygen, Leicester Square

Had a great night in here...the cocktails were good and I didnt have to wait long to be served...friendly staff, even the bouncers!! However, the toilets were dirty and there was no toiletpaper even though there was a toilet attendant!

The Thornbury Castle, Marylebone

Really like this pub, it small and cosy. The food is good and the staff is friendly! It gets really busy on friday nights, but its all good...

15 Jan 2005 17:11

The Walkabout, Embankment

The bouncers in here are the worst of the worst...I was told off twice by the same bouncer...and I didnt do nothing!!! he also seemed to have his special area on top of the stairs...I was certainly not welcome there...dont know why??? Complete idiot! the floor was dirty and full of broken class...cut my finger and ruined my boots...other than that I had a good night (maybe because i was in the company of some good friends??)...the music wasnt too bad either!
