The Palmerston Arms, Peterborough

Beer heaven in Peterborough for the last 18 months but the initial buzz seams to have fizzled out. Fantastic range of beers and great atmosphere but pick your nights carefully. Some beers seem v tired and have obviously hung around a bit and if you don't like ukelele's avoid Thursday. To many Batemans and Oakham beers for my taste but still well worth a visit.

The Ostrich Inn, Peterborough

What a dilemma, the beer was fair and the bar staff lovely but the clientele were very questionable to the point we left half way down our pint. Worth a look at quiet times but I wouldn't recommend!

The Hand and Heart, Peterborough

Lovely pub for the ticker or architecture enthusiast . It is a national inventory CAMRA pub but the beer is quite pricey. Recently, even at their beerfest it's been very quiet and I visited in a Saturday evening. Shame. Will this be another hidden gem lost to redevelopement?

The Organ Grinder, Nottingham

What a fantastic pub. Great range of Blue Monkey beer son hand pump and in bottles. Roof terrace is a novel feature and the staff are more than helpful. Chapeau!!

Charters Bar, Peterborough

This place could be the best pub in Peterborough, unfortunately it's not, the massive choice of Oakham beers taste very similar and are not a patch on the beer served under their Oakademy scheme by other pubs. On a quiet Tuesday afternoon I stood for almost 20 minutes waiting to be served and the the Scarlet MacAw tasted like it hadn't been pulled through. V disappointed!!

The Coalheavers Arms, Peterborough

One of my favourite watering holes. The Justinian is a cracking session beer. Good range with up to 8 on hand pump. Shame it feels like it needs a good facelift. All in all a great example of a backstreet local
