Arrived after a pleasant walk from Bridport, and enjoyed an excellent pint of Otter, served obligingly by the Chef. Extensive menu, friendly reception. WOuld re-visit.

Quite possibly the best pub I've found in my 40 years. Great beer (Cuckoo), excellent lunch (Stilton Baguette), and extremely welcoming lady serving both.
Previous comment re log fires is spot on, as is the likeness of the hostelry to the Vine, & the S & C.

Unfortunately, can't agree with the previous comments. Terrible bar staff, with no attention paid to the order at the bar, scruffy gardens with old crisp packets everywhere, leftover cutlery on the floor, and week old newspapers underneath tables. Gales HSB is great, however. Definitely NOT the best pub in the New Forest - try the Royal Oak, or the Foresters...

The Hare and Hounds, Waytown
Absolutley spot-on. Palmers 200 from the barrel was perfect, Ham Egg & Chips (inspired by earlier review) was about the best I've had in a long time, and She rated the 'Scrumpy' very highly. Add to this great friendly service from ALL the staff, and fabulous walking, and you have the perfect pub. We WILL return.
