Ye Cracke, Liverpool

Covman45 - Please respect other users of this site and don't dismiss my observations as 'nonsense'. I'm happy to accept that conditions were better when you visited, I commented on the visit I paid to the pub.

Ye Hole in Ye Wall, Liverpool

A wonderful find during a visit to Liverpool. Enjoyed the atmosphere, the beer and the banter with the regulars. Highly recommended if Wetherspoons, Chef & Brewer and student bars aren't your thing. Traditional pub we found by accident but would seek out again.

Ye Cracke, Liverpool

I'm not a real ale buff so can't comment on what they had on sale. This was a visit I had to do because I'd heard so much about Ye Cracke. It stank of stale beer and vomit, the floor and tables were sticky and most of the customers drunk and intimidating. It was a fairly quiet Friday afternoon but I drank up quickly and left. Never to return!

The Poste House, Liverpool

Love this little local. Just what a pub should be. Great location, great host, great beer. Enjoyed chatting with the regulars, no hassle, no drunks, no students. It's a bit small but has a huge atmosphere. DON'T LET PUBS LIKE THIS DIE!

A. Gentrification!

The Everyman Bistro, Liverpool

I've always liked the Everyman Bistro, the atmosphere is friendly and very relaxed. The food is very 'samey' (quiche, pizza, salads) each time you visit but it's fresh and made on the premises. Prices on food are rising regularly and portions shrinking so meals are not what they were.
I was angry last time I visited with 3 friends. We sat down with our meals and was half way through when we were told (not asked) to move by a member of staff. When we asked why she replied 'we need this room, you'll have to find a table by the bar'. When we pointed out we were half way through our meal she said 'you can eat the rest of it by the bar'. She then moved from table to table telling diners the same thing. If the room had been booked for a function why hadn't they closed it before serving dinner? I was disappointed in her attitude and it spoilt our dinner. An email to the manager was ignored.
The Everyman Bistro has gone down in my estimation.

The Old Albion, Crantock

I used lived in Crantock and loved summer evenings at 'The Albion'. We returned to Cornwall in September 09 and drove out to The Albion for dinner. I was upset to see the state of a once favourite pub. The staff were miserable, untidy and seemed put upon when you ordered a drink. The pub itself is tired and dirty. The food, when it finally arrived, had been taken out of the freezer and tossed in a deep fat fryer. The cutlery wasn't clean but then neither was the table. The empty glasses on our table stayed there until after we left.
The toilets were disgusting, they stank and had no toilet paper. The floor in the loo was swimming in water, litter and cigarette ends. After washing my hands I had to use my own tissues to dry them.
This lovely old pub is unloved by it's present owners. There is no warm welcome or friendly atmosphere. It smells of old, damp clothes and stale cooking. The Old Albion needs new landlords, a new cleaner, a lick of paint, a new chef and some tender loving care. I still remember when this was a great place to spend an evening what a shame new visitors will have a very different opinion.
