Goodbody's, Mutley Plain

dark, sticky, twisted, headwarping, stodge, flags, minimum wage waitresses (if they are lucky), weed and dark again... but I like it

Ye White Hart, Barnes

good for drinking beers on a Sunday evening when you realyl don't want to go to work the next day. The rivers have an odd, barren yet blaek kind of beauty to it on these occasions....still not sure why!

The East Hill, Wandsworth

This is one of my two locals due mainly to its geography, as it is directly on the way home. They do serve Budvar, which is always something to recommend a place.

Great for summer recovery beers after a night out until the early hours, although one would be lucky to find a seat in amongst the Belindas and Henrys sometimes!

The food is a bit hit and miss though as is the bitters, which is a shame.

The Cat's Back, Wandsworth

Ace!

good sandwiches during the week when not at work!

The Wheatsheaf, Borough

good memories of this place. Always went there after working at Borough Market. Small, friendly and dark and smokey.... I like that sometimes!

The Front Room, Wandsworth

not been in there enough to really judge it as I think was a bit worse for where when I did go there. Ambivalent until return visit.

The Spread Eagle, Wandsworth

I think the Brewers up the road is a bit better..... both are Youngs Pubs.... I like a good pint of Youngs but Wandsworth does have a bit of a glut of them, but what does one expect given the proximity of the brewery there! makes me gag for a Fullers!

The Blue Anchor, Hammersmith

A fan of this.... by the river, good ale, drinking with my Brother discussing the dynamics of dialectic materialsim..... who could ask for more!

Boomerangs, Mutley Plain

I have mixed feelings towards this one. In terms of design and looks... pretty poor but at least not a chain bar type of look, which is no bad thing.

Also if I recall correctly there was a fight and steamed up windows.... but then again it might have just been a one off.

On the plus side, Sunday quiz nights (or at least it was at some point in the past, someone may be able to update us all on that one) and they did and hopefully still do, sell VB , that great Aussie beer that I am very partial to.... it is also a real Aussie beer, not like this Fosters cr*p some poeple drink!

The Fortescue, Mutley Plain

The Fort.... the first palce I ever got drunk on 8% cider, on a Saturday night, there was 16 in the national lottery and I was home being sick before Match of the Day had even started! Looking back on it now a decade later it seems like the start of a beautiful friendship with Lucifer's Liquid!

I still go back when I return to my home town and find it friendly and relaxed all the time. And also a decent slection of ales and plenty of seating and a reasonable beer garden for the summer comedowns after a night out!

Golden Hind, Plymouth

Ah.... the Golden Hind.... many an evening spent supping ale and downing whisky.... also good for 'preparing,' for mid / late 1990s raves in fields the day after and keeping it tidy for drives New Years Eve parties up country!

Still a favourite of mine when i return to Plymouth, but more for convenince and memories! that and the fact I used to live nearby!
