The White Lion, Norwich

Excellent Excellent Excellent! Fabulous food at bargain prices, the pork belly was fantastic, Sunday roast was the tastiest and best value roast I've had since 2005, that is serious. Try the black pudding if you get a chance.

Staff are friendly, clientle are friendly, beer garden is a cosy little place for a quick ciggie. Clean tiolets, nice billiards table, darts and daily newspapers, books to read and piano to play. And to top it all off, fantastic tasting, pristinely kept real ales of all tastes and shades (nice ciders too).

If you go to Norwich you should make the time to visit. 9 out of 10 from me (and I don't give 10's)

The Eagle, Cambridge

This is a tourist pub, that is an average pub, that is probably not worth the trouble unless you like faceless places without atmosphere (literatly, it gets very hot crowded and sweaty inside). Although it does have a nice courtyard to sit in.

The Mitre, Cambridge

Completely average chainesque pub. Good for cheap fast food. Nice cider selection

The Live and Let Live, Cambridge

Excellent. Great Beer, great atmosphere, and great big pork sandwiches after 9 on a Friday! I will be going back.

The Pemberton Arms, Harston

What is it about Harston and really bright pubs? Overall not a bad boozer, pool, darts, jukebox, and sky sports (if that's your thing). Only GK IPA on pump, but tasted fine. Bit of a yokel local, but nice and friendly

The Queens Head, Harston

Doesn't feel like a pub, doesn't feel like a resturant. Landlord was a very nice fellow, but unfortunately the queens head didn't tick any boxes for me. Too light, too bright, and the chairs were too upright.

Not a bad place for a bite to eat. But it's not a pub.

The Druids Arms, Brighton

Nice Roast on a Sunday and the first place to introduce me to Potatas a lo Pobre. Yum. In other words, the menu is pretty eclectic - but that's Brighton. Usually got a couple of beers on too.

Mitre Tavern, Brighton

Why not! Pop in for a.... Harvey's - just don't have the best, there's so much more to try (eg Old ale). Like I say, plenty of Harvey's to choose from.

Overall, Not the most welcoming of place's for the under 50. Ho hum, still worth a visit.

The Bat and Ball, Brighton

Get a pint in the summer and sit on the benches out front. Plenty of people watching to be had down by the level.

Wouldn't take my Mum here. She doesn't like horse racing.

Trafford Arms, Norwich

This is the one I was meant to be in all along. Popped in here after playing squash at Wensum lodge.

Great selection of beer and ale. Let down by the big tellys all over the place. Wouldn't say no to another pint in there some time.

The Trowel and Hammer, Norwich

Tis true, the place is a bit wiffy! I put it down to all the new varnish.

However, there are some good points to it, the pool and darts arena is pretty awesome, if that's your thing?

Friendly polish guy behind the bar. Didn't want me to leave - was a bit empty I 'spose.

The Pickwick, Norwich

It's now called the Fountain

Whalebone, Norwich

like a corner pub tardis, there's so many rooms to take a perch in. Table service in the garden was a nice touch. Esp if you've just walked from the other side of town to find it!

Attracts a well turned out crowd with a nice male:female ratio. Nothing worse then the only lady in the pub being the alcholics wife.

The Cidershed, Norwich

What a jolly pleasent place. Lots of ale - yes. Lots of friendly people - yes. Super bar staff to boot. Live music, Grreat. It's at just the right volume, you can even chat/order a drink while they're playing!

The Fat Cat, Norwich

I like it a lot, couldn't spend a whole evening there though, too busy, plus, the seats are uncomfortable and the t.v. always seems to be on. There I've said it...

Champion pork pies though (buy one if you get the chance)! Oh yeah, mustn't forget the extensive range of ale and beer that's alway ready for you to purchase.

Eaton Cottage, Norwich

Pretty decent juicer, ring a ding dong. Theres slugs and spiders in the secret back garden (which incidentally is also if a wonderful place to have a chat), relaxed folk in the front garden, and always half a bakers dozen of ales to quaff.

Drop by - you can even spend your euros there!

The Garden House, Norwich

Rude staff, over priced food, poor service on food, rip off prices on the beer and packed with arrogance. Supergreatfantastic beer garden though.

30 Jun 2007 15:45

Mad Moose, Norwich

No atmosphere due to the massive sky sports screen, bland decor (it's like every chain hotel's lobby you've every visited) and poor bar service. Give this on a wide berth.

30 Jun 2007 15:37

The Rose Tavern, Norwich

Something for everyone. Great value food, reasonable priced ales, sport on one side lounge and dining on the other side. Friendly bar staff and locals to boot. Sometimes can host wayward studenty type nights.

30 Jun 2007 15:34

The Coachmakers Arms, Norwich

Jackel on gravity was ace! Pity about the location.

30 Jun 2007 15:31

Champion, Norwich

Went here after playing a local squash team, they put on a lovely spread - lots of chips and chilli, and a bucketful of sarnies. However, felt a bit on the gloomy side.

The Adam and Eve, Norwich

It's a Norwich experience. Take foreigners here and watch them marvel at the wonkey-ness and compactness of the place. Set in a pleasent area, but doesn't justify the over priced ale and food. Probably a good'un for a quick half.

30 Jun 2007 15:25

The Belgian Monk, Norwich

Fun for the tourist, but pretty generic. Had those pretend plastic books you see in showhomes on the wall - that's a big no no, probably cheaper to buy actual second hand books! Interesting range of beer, but nothing to blow your mind. Felt very transient.

30 Jun 2007 15:18

The Birdcage, Norwich

Upbeat and modern. Little on the pricey side, but worth it for the interesting nights they put on in the lounge (salsa, cabaret, disco's)

30 Jun 2007 15:14

The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich

Friendly staff, friendly locals and tasty ale. The food's good as well. Nice little selection of board games tucked in the corner - perfect for helping pass the time on a cold winters evening (next to the open fire). I could go on... but I'll just have to leave it up to you to discover for yourself!

30 Jun 2007 15:12

Belle Vue, Norwich

Dingy, smelly and poor quality service. Not a favourite of mine. Has an unwelcoming feel about it, especially from the regulars proping up the bar.
