Queens Head, Reading

No longer a pub as such; more a Thai knocking shop. "Love you long time".

14 Sep 2013 10:59

The Sun, Redhill

Very poor service and the regulars appear to be little more than simians break dancing.

26 Jul 2012 12:25

Coopers Arms, Reading

A pub surely missed in the Reading area; re-opens Saturday 23rd July 2011. Oh yes!

21 Jul 2011 20:30

The Catherine Wheel, Henley-On-Thames

A once fine watering ground gone to the chavs and cheap plonk brigade.

13 Jun 2011 19:57

The Hope Tap, Reading

The nearest pub to the Jobcentre. Need I say more?

13 Jun 2011 19:55

The Bear and Dragon, Tilehurst

Now a mosque...

20 Apr 2011 22:21

Bull & Chequers, Woodley

The garlic bread crowd are in here roaming wide eyed and lary. You've been warned.

20 Apr 2011 17:37

The College Arms, Reading

The toilets; anyone seen the film Anaconda? A bl**dy disgrace. And a brown one at that.

20 Apr 2011 17:36

The Sun, Richmond

I would have to agree with Luta; the staff are to customer relations what Hitler was to the jews. And as for the punters, well if you wear Burberry and are a chav teenager who can't handle his/her booze then you're in the right venue...

20 Apr 2011 17:33

The Horn, Reading

As long as they've got rid of those dodgy korean types the last landlord was so fond of...

9 Apr 2011 19:44

The Granby, Reading

Shut. And with good reason. Goodnight fudgey type.

9 Apr 2011 19:42

The Blagrave Arms, Reading

Better than it used to be in the days of your lightweight Larry Foster Wheeler type. Having said that overpriced shandy and annoying background music isn't doing it any favours...

9 Apr 2011 19:39

Pavlov's Dog, Reading

Violent? The first (and last) time I went in it was like The Wynford Part Deux. Huge homosexual crowd which if your bread is battered on that side fine but not my cup of brew. As for thefts the only thing likely to be pinched is your a*s by fudgey type. Thanks but no thanks...

9 Apr 2011 19:26

Varsity, Reading

2000 years of human evolution then you enter here. Still a good enough point to realise Darwin himself was a chimp and there is no point. SQUAWK!

29 May 2007 22:55

The Walkabout, Reading

Walkaway would be far more fitting. 'Dire' also springs to mind.

29 May 2007 22:53

The Blagrave Arms, Reading

Men blasting air horns, bar staff from Human Traffic, a pool table with one ball always missing. Reading town centre dives I salute you!

29 May 2007 22:51

O'Neills, Reading

A theme pub. And the theme being 'irish'. Give that a miss then.

29 May 2007 22:48

3Bs, Reading

You can't beat it of an afternoon though - teacakes and OAPs - more crumpet vicar?

29 May 2007 22:47

The Inn on the Park, Woodley

Is it giro day Tom?

29 May 2007 22:45

Uncle Henry's, Newbury

Henrys you will be greatly missed; by the unemployable and unwashed. The last time I was unfortunate to frequent this hole I bore witness to a man floating an air biscuit over his cohorts luncheon! I've never seen the like!

29 May 2007 22:42

The Rising Sun, Reading

Despite a good choice of beers a very negative policy in regard to disabled people; witnessed the bar staff refuse to serve a disabled girl who had trouble getting up the steps yet clearly wasn't drunk. Yet were quite happy to continue serving the locals who couldn't manage a sentence without shouting the word f*ck. I've drank here on and off for the last 10 years but won't be again.

10 Sep 2006 13:32

Red Lion, Bracknell

Despite being a bit overpriced a damn fine pub to have a pint during a weekday lunchtime. Cannot fault it, spacious, a garden (yes summer has arrived) and compared to the other horror show joints in bracknell this is the best on offer.

13 May 2006 15:07

The Orange House, Reading

Well what can one say; cheap prices attract cheap people. Another Reading pub that has fallen prey to the giro hordes. Give us your scroungers, your poor, your weak of mind and I give you; The Orange House!

23 Apr 2006 15:17

The Gig House, Wokingham

Not bad for Wokingham despite better on offer in Reading - still cheap, cheerful and room to swing a cat. However the female clientale could do with a little more mensa training especially on a saturday night. Work it. Or not rather.

23 Apr 2006 15:14

The Hope and Anchor, Wokingham

I would tend to disagree with the regulars bit, never noticed an atmosphere and am always made to feel welcome but then again I don't resemble Harry Potter. Good booze, pool tables; just mind your friggin head on the way to the toilets - low beams ahoy!

23 Apr 2006 15:11

Three Frogs, Wokingham

Cheap food, reasonable booze on tap and a general feelgood atmosphere - bit OTT with the sport flags but apart from that a damn fine pub. Top banana.

23 Apr 2006 15:07

Coopers Arms, Reading

Well the jukebox has Numan on it so its not all bad. Likeable despite the fact the male toilets should have a biohazard warning on the door. Still the ladies is fine. The bar staff could cheer up a bit too - its almost like a wake without the cheer.

12 Mar 2006 22:34

Bridge, Bracknell

Had the misfortune to frequent this disaster one lunchtime with a few work collegues. Wisely I didn't order the food like them which was not only late but the initial order wasn't even available. And to make matters worse the barman/manager who is straight out of a carry on film took the p*ss about the food not being 'on the menu'. A very strange pub which also attracts the typical Bracknell crowd - thirty/fortysomething/male/likes football/yob/self employed/idiot. Nope I won't be buying that for a dollar.

12 Mar 2006 22:28

Purple Lounge, Newbury

Used to be a good bar when Gregg was the bar manager - still on the other hand the takings are up. Now they have a DJ who'd be better suited to an old folks home - Shabba.

12 Mar 2006 22:23

The Oakford Social Club, Reading

Need to amend my review from earlier; I have just worked out how they can offer the drinks so cheaply - they turn off the friggin heating! Upon leaving our drinking bud informed us 'I am going outside and may be some time but at least it'll be warmer'.

10 Feb 2006 10:37

Molly's Millars, Wokingham

Big, loud with the clientale mainly consisting of chavs and anyone with the iq of an amoeba. Expensive too. Highly NOT recommended.

29 Jan 2006 20:41

The Redan, Wokingham

Too small but if a broom cupboards your bag fine.

29 Jan 2006 20:39

The New Rose, Wokingham

One for locals only, was even asked to move seats by the staff as it was a regulars table! An absolute joke of a pub.

29 Jan 2006 20:38

The Ship Inn, Wokingham

They've updated it yet again to make the bar more of a sports bar; it doesn't work and has lost any character it previously had. Whilst in there over the weekend had to sit behind a group of racists very loudly airing their aryan views. The bar staff didn't ask them to quiet down either.

29 Jan 2006 20:36

The Lord Raglan, Wokingham

Bloody awful place to drink; no atmosphere, chavs, overpriced and quite often trouble kicking off especially at weekends.

29 Jan 2006 20:33

Hog's Head, Newbury

Probably the most popular pub in Newbury as if thats a recommendation. Its not. Expensive and over populated with the check shirt brigade.

26 Jan 2006 21:43

Seymours, Newbury

Ever seen the film Deliverance? The security here make those rednecks pale by comparison. A club where you can always bet on one thing; trouble. Avoid.

26 Jan 2006 21:40

Gordons Bar, Newbury

Bloody awful place, the atmosphere of a cancer ward waiting room. The staff act like they are doing a stars in their eyes version of the muppets. The drinks are expensive and yes it is more of a restaurant than anything only without the good food. Not only that lunchtimes are filled with vodaclones and council workers which is more than reason enough to give it the widest berth. What is it with Newbury; the place seems incapable of supplying a half decent pub.

26 Jan 2006 21:37

The Bar Copa, Reading

Not an aussie in sight? Surely thats a positive thing strewth. Not a bad pub, no aggro, the landlord is a top bloke, the staff are friendly however I do agree with the toilets being miles away - bit tricky if on a major session. They could also do with a bit of a clean but that aside top banana.

26 Jan 2006 21:31

Revolution, Reading

All the atmosphere of a wake only with vodaclones, checkered shirt bores and women with the IQ of a credit card. The music can't be faulted however the dance floor can - when did a school disco resemble a club. In fact the dance floor could also be any cheesy wedding reception you've ever been to with just as many p*ssed up muppets who think 3 pints is heavy and then proceed to act up on it. To think drones actually queue and pay for this excuse of a place is criminal.

20 Jan 2006 13:45

The Oakford Social Club, Reading

Seen better but lets face it in Reading you can do a hell of a lot worse. Cheap plonk on weekdays and pretty good deals at the weekends. Not as lively as it used to be and the toilets are a bit of a hike but all things considered not too bad. Slight chav element seeping in what with the cheap drinks on offer and also getting the old fossils from the weatherspoons doing a turn but you can't have everything.

20 Jan 2006 13:37

Casa, Reading

Casa has now changed totally? My sweet a** it has. For one on any other day other than student night (Thursdays) you are lucky if you see anyone besides yourself and the bar staff in there. Which is quality if you want a very exclusive one man and his dog bar or are on the run. Also as to the thursday night it may have a pound a (watery) pint deal but it also has the grim scenario of x-number of students dressed like every day is friggin halloween. Yah highly recommended.

20 Jan 2006 13:34

The George, Earley

Good food, reasonable prices, beautiful interior, by the river, next to a cinema. So far so good. Yes you've guessed it - ruined by chavs and a older yob mentaility - were even recently raided by the old bill! Woodleys best pub by far ruined by the clientale. Gotta love the town.

4 Jan 2006 15:27

The Malthouse, Reading

A haunt for postmen which lets face it is reason enough not to frequent.

2 Jan 2006 14:17

The Walkabout, Reading

Another aussie themed pub; just what reading needed. See people dance like monkeys, see drunks attempt new forms of dance, see women that no amount of beer can improve. Walkabout I salute you.

2 Jan 2006 14:16

Yates's, Reading

Only one thing could improve upon this place: demolition.

2 Jan 2006 14:11

The Battle Inn, Reading

I agree with the review below totally - Auschwitz was more fun than this. If you like trouble, drunken bores and a clientale that make gary glitter seem a good bloke by comparison then the Battle Inn is your cup of tea. Bloody awful pub. Even the Carousel in Whitley was upmarket next to this!

2 Jan 2006 14:09

The Bear and Dragon, Tilehurst

Upon walking in you can almost here the sound of cashed giros and the gentle tip of a burberry cap. Reminds one of the film 'Deliverance' and remember folks - we don't like dem dere strangers......

2 Jan 2006 14:00

Colorz, Reading

Makes cancer look appealing. Avoid.

2 Jan 2006 13:58

The College Arms, Reading

Good pub apart from one thing - students, students and more students. Almost enough to make the chav pubs of woodley back on the agenda.

2 Jan 2006 13:53

Scruffy Murphys, Reading

Irish and no aggro period. Top banana.

2 Jan 2006 13:51

The Three Guineas, Reading

Bearable if Reading FC haven't got a big game on otherwise footie bores and the police merge as one for fun times to be had by all on a saturday. If you fancy a pub to meet in before a train journey try the Corn Exchange instead; smaller, quieter and the staff are beyond friendly; total gents I salute you.

2 Jan 2006 13:50

Bar 38, Reading

Overpriced and called Bar 38 presumably as that is the average age of the clientale. Still they do have sofas and you get a beautiful view of oracle happy shoppers and the horror facade of said sterile shopping centre. Yeah right.

2 Jan 2006 13:48

Bull & Chequers, Woodley

The cheap prices have managed to attract the chavs and as a result made woodley THE place not to enjoy a pint.

31 Dec 2005 14:56

Thatchers Tavern, Woodley

Chavs, the kind of football fans chelsea and millwall attract and quite often the detriment of junkies found in the toilets. Real class.

31 Dec 2005 14:54

The Angel, Soho

Character, charm and cheap beer; what more can you want? How about a bizarre one table back room with the allure of a David Lynch movie. Great pub which I never fail to visit each time I'm in London. Quality.

31 Dec 2005 14:52

Ha Ha, Reading

Bland, expensive, sterile. Frequented by office bores in identikit suits and women with the personality of a heelas dummy only not as attractive. In other words f*cking atrocious.

31 Dec 2005 11:18

Bar Four, Reading

Bar forgotten. Instantly.

31 Dec 2005 11:09

The Pitcher and Piano, Reading

Almost bearable at weekday lunchtimes but as for the evenings - forget it. Unless you like upmarket school canteen layouts with a clientale of middle aged bores who presume they have stepped out of an episode of Cold Feet. One bar friar street could easily lose and lets face it not the only one.

31 Dec 2005 11:08

O'Neills, Reading

Cheap drinks??? Only if you like watered down spirits/cocktails and alcopops - anyone that wants beer is in for a shock. The Reflex is total cheese and can't be faulted if a night of harmless entertainment is all you want. The music is (as stated above) the same each night. This fact alone can make the novelty value wear off especially if you go their more than once a month. And the bouncers can be a bit full on - they seem to have forgotten that people do get drunk in clubs and are a bit heavy handed when it comes to removal tactics. Still its not all bad - drunks climbing up the poles like an episode of Londons Burning and fake men breasts - you can't go wrong!
