The Kings Head, Yarmouth

Sorry to tell you all but the past 21 year landlady has been forced out by Enterprise Inns and HMRC, may be open again next year???

The Kings Head, Yarmouth

Probably the best Pub in Yarmouth, and probbly the oldest, with probably the best ham and eggs to die for, but with the absolute best log fire on the island!!!

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Keep coming back to this generally good pub but why of why cant the staff seem to be somewhat better motivated, well I guess it's a lack of managment.
Which is why the bar brasswork is so badly looked after or FILTHY as it is and the pipework in the gents. The old saying was a clean loo then a clean kitchen, no brainer still these days.

The Front Bar, Falmouth

Pub of the Year for Cornwal says it all, no need for any further comment, just go there and enjoy, take yer mates as well.

The Quayside Inn, Falmouth

Didn't like this place the moment I walked in, ground flloor bar closed with sign pointing to upstairs bar, where one young lass only one serving and taking her time. Food smelt and looked truck stop and greasy, beer not all that either. Will give this a miss next time.

The Chainlocker and Shipwrights, Falmouth

I went here a few days ago last week and found it ab fab, good beer and plenty of choice, also we had the best ever crab sandwiches. Staff were chatty and no problem whatsoever. Be back soon now Ive found it.

The Roseland Inn, Philleigh

Excellent pub tucked away on the Roseland Perninsula, with its own brewery, but also plenty of other beers all well kept and drunk. Also excellent food, well priced etc etc,
When several friends and I turned up for food without a booking it was no problem, with one young lady very ably running the bar, serving the drinks, taking the phone calls, making the bookings, serving the food, clearing the tables, she did everything other than cook it. You don't see that very often now do you, if we could only clone her.
Might be a different story in July/August but whatever they will still try.

Plume of Feathers, Portscatho

Good standard no nonsense Cornish pub, food excellent, Tribute well kept and drunk, by me, lots. Nice folk, chatty. Well worth a visit.

The Volunteer Riflemans Arms, Bath

Best pub by far and such fun, main man is barking, the beer is green, well in colour, and the toasted saanies are excellent, absolutely top notch. Be back soon. Watch out !! regards BaddyPurt

Navigation Inn and Warehouse Restaurant, Maesbury Marsh

Cold pub in the winter, with maybe one beer on "caskmarque" variety, sometime two at weekends, landlords seem somewhat dissolusioned. Food pretty good and ordering it gets a smile from the guvnors. Better in summer as a canal side watering hole.

The Bradford Arms, Knockin

Marstens have spent a shed load of money here over the last couple of years and is now reopenned just before Christmas with a new management couple from the local area, rather a corporate feel about the place and food "prepacked" orientataed, clean and tidy , with a few of the Marsten range of beers on offer.

The Bull Hotel, Ludlow

Oh no!!! not again, I don't believe it.
How bad or "piss poor" can Marstens be to allow one of its oldest and possibly one of it's best sites to be in such a poor state. This site is closed yet again due to the fact that the landlords couldn't hack it and started on each other. Come on Marstens get a grip, there will be plenty of capable people able to run this place, just give them a chance.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

More changes here than Brian Rix could have imagined together with the Ludlow welcome, if your lucky that is. Beer is excellent, so is the cider, foods all right I suppose if you like dustbin lids full. Locals OK. Guvner spends too much time abroad and wouldn't know one end of a barrel from another.

The Bull Hotel, Ludlow

No sorry still a waste of space.

The Bradford Arms, Llanymynech

Without doubt one of the best run pubs with rooms anywhere in the area, run and owned by an ex RAF chap who knows which end is up, good beer, good chow and a welcome much missed these days.

15 Oct 2010 16:14

The Black Horse Inn, Maesbrook

Recently reclaimed by the owner this old country pub seems set for a return to greatness, you will have to watch this space for more info but the signs are good.

Blue Boar, Ludlow

Just been in here this lunch and its not so bad, All the usual Punch range but with a bit of atmo, sky telly so it will have the game on wont it!! Give it a go, theres a lot worse in this town.

Nelson Inn, Ludlow

I suspect no reviews have been posted because both the many locals who "DRINK" here and the landlord want to keep it a secret.

The Bull Hotel, Ludlow

This grand old place is now on the market, again leasehold, but watch this space as we expect it to be freehold by end of summer. Then we hope some sense to return here. Lets hope it has somthing going for it by the Food Festival.

Rising Sun, Twitton

There are not many like this anymore, freehouse owned and run, the mere fact it survives is a miracle, but good luck to it. I have had many a pint here over the years and its frequented by local entrepreneurs, farmers, ex city traders, builders, greengrocers, caravan park owners etc, etc. A well known premier league manager used to live next door, no not him!!

22 Apr 2009 15:42

The Three Mariners Inn, Tenby

Nice old standards pub with a bit of chat, good selection of beer, match on telly and some food as well. No worries.

22 Apr 2009 15:31

The Malt Shovel Inn, Gaydon

Came here last week for a meeting with a pal from afar, like me afar as well, we met halfway at The Malt Shovel, and a vey good choice. A good selection and well kept range of beers and food , restaurant or bar of excellent quality with service to boot. Look no further.

22 Apr 2009 15:29

The Blue Peter, Polperro

I read these last few comments with interest and would say that since Terry left some seven years ago the place has not been the same which is what you get for people without heart. Last time I was there I was ejected for no good reason, six years back, work it out yourselves folks!!

22 Apr 2009 15:13

The Church Inn, Ludlow

As time goes on things change and unfortunately the Church Inn appears to be suffering. Whilst it has not been sold and ruined by Punch Taverns, the owner seems to have lost the plot and most if not all of the old faces both barsides are different. The number of the beers on offer and their quality is still the best for many a mile, also I believe the food also stands
shoulders above others, but the ambience in the lunchtime session has fallen of of a cliff and is dashed upon the rocks below. There is still much to comlement this ship but the rudder is unmanned.

22 Apr 2009 14:57

The Unicorn Inn, Ludlow

Recently done up Big Time following the summer floods, but without any warm or friendly reception, lovely fireplace but no fire, no idea about the food but the feeling that drinkers not really welcome.

1 Apr 2008 14:57

The Bull Hotel, Ludlow

Whilst one of the oldest in the town, its got the newest hosts, if your very young in the evening and weekends then its OK for you , otherwise give it a miss.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

Porbably the best pub in Ludlow or even Shropshire, with eight draught beers all well kept and some pretty fine food, cheerful helpful bar staff, occasional live music, landlords selection of 60's/70's plays via his ipod.
