Cobbetts, Dorking

I'm not qualified to comment upon the psychological issues which compel someone to slag a place off in eight separate missives - sorry - reviews, but I can say from personal experience that this is a pleasant place to visit for a swift one or two. It's not a pub in the normal sense (too small, no food etc.) and it's not really an offy (though they do sell loads of bottles) but if you want to try a pint of something your local won't have, this is the place. Mind you if the customer count approaches a dozen or so they'll all need to be very skinny or very friendly.

The Mayflower, Rotherhithe

As others have observed, the low rating for this pub must be a relic of a bygone era as we found a charming interior, better-than-average food and well-kept libations. The price wasn't too bad, either. If you find yourself near Rotherhithe overground station (hey, it could happen) you should drop in and soak up the atmosphere (and some beer, obviously).

Because the other six random pubs of the day are too busy. Seriously, the BITE folks need to fix their RPG (Random Pub Generator) because the same ones show up over and over and...

The Waterfront, Nottingham

What happens at a privet party? Do we get to look over the hedge or are we expected to plant one? I believe we should be told!

The Railway Bell, Hampton

'The Dip' was tastefully redecorated a few months back and is now serving food most of the day. The menu is roughly the same as before, but that's a good thing. I've never had a bad pint, or a bad time, in this place. Can't say that about too many pubs.

Mawson Arms/ Fox and Hounds, Chiswick

As this place abuts the Fuller's brewery you'd think they'd take extra care with the beer and food. You'd be right. A wide selection of well-kept beer (all Fuller's and Gales obviously) and tasty grub. The brewery tour (which starts in the pub) is well worth the time it takes and the tenner it costs. And if you didn't have enough to drink beforehand, they'll rectify that oversight at the conclusion of the tour.

Toilets are beyond belief. Good thing I wore my wellies and gas mask.

Suoerb location, great view. How could they possibly go wrong? By charging 65p/pint more than the excellent Eel Pie down the road, that's how.

The Fox and Goose, Ealing

Stayed in the attached hotel (excellent!) for a couple of days, so this was my temporary local. Standard Fuller's food menu, decent prices, well-kept beer and a friendly crowd. The only downside was the limited range of beers; they did't have any of the usual milder selections like Chiswick or Explorer, much less a guest beer. Very much worth a visit if you're in the area.

The Doric Arch, Euston

I was in a couple days ago and was able to confirm that the remodel will be limited to a scrubbing and a few drops of paint, plus, possibly, re-arranging some of the railway memorobilia. Assuming the fellow gave me accurate info, this will remain the best pub near Euston Station. Pub is scheduled to re-open about two weeks from today.

The Compton Arms, Islington

Tasty grub, an ever-changing assortment of ales, comfortable "country pub"-style atmosphere, friendly staff and a welcoming local clientele. This is where the, "however" should make an appearance, but I really can't think of anything bad to say...

The Railway Bell, Hampton

The place has improved steadily over the past couple years and now boasts a very nice front garden with plenty of seating. Limited menu but the food is quite good, as are the beers. Beer pricing is in line with central London rather than the suburbs, but it's a pleasant place to spend an evening so the extra 10p a pint is well spent.
