New Inn, Veryan

Tried both the Tribute and the Dartmoor ale - both well served.
Did eat here, the menu is pretty standard pub grub, but was tasty and not over priced.
Overall a good pub, with friendly locals and were happy for me to bring the dog in.

The Gladstone Arms, Borough

The beer - Tribute and Doom Bar - is very well kept.
In this area, this is by far the best served pint - even if the pub gets packed, but I am just old.

The Royal Oak, Borough

Popped in on Friday evening, and once again not impressed with the quality
of the beer. Has happened a few times now.

The Cock Inn, Halstead

Visited on Saturday afternoon.
Tried Harveys and London pride, both were in excellent condition.
The other beer on was Bombardier, but didn't try that.
First time I've been in this pub in years, really good all round and the locals were friendly.

The Gladstone Arms, Borough

Gave this place a try last night, had a band playing which is always a plus.
Doom bar and Tribute on hand pump and in good condition, even had Addlestones on tap.
All round a good pub with an excellent atmosphere.

The Wild Duck Inn, Ewen

First time I've been to this pub, but I was impressed.
They do have a couple of beers under their own name, I don't know who brews
these, but both were in good order, though too hoppy for my taste.
Abbot ale and Speckled Hen were also avaliable and fine.
Cider was Addlestones plus another keg. Didn't try these, so can't say too much.
Other reviews mention the food - big part of the business here, and all I had
was good quality with a healthy portion size. Some dishes were very expensive, but the menu is large enough to give a fair choice.

Lowlander, Covent Garden

I have mixed feelings about both this place and the other comments on BITE about it.
Yes you could just come here and have a couple of pints, but this place is more
about having something to eat and drink.
The bottled beers are expensive, but what pub sells cheap bottled beer ?? - plus
these are unusual (in the UK) beers. Other reviews have turned these prices into per pint, which I think is unfair.
The basic (and decent) pilsner can be had from about 3.50 a pint on draught.
The food is restaurant price (around 15 for a main course) but is not good enough quailty for the price.
This bar is also slap bang in the middle of tourist London, so it's never going to be cheap, but if you're a bit canny with both your beer and food choice it's a good destination.

The Blythe Hill Tavern, Forest Hill

One of those pubs you go by but haven't tried.
My mistake, an excellent boozer.
4 beers on handpump - (Pride / Dark Star/ Adnams / and ?
Only tried the Broadside and it was spot on.

The Cittie of Yorke, Holborn

All the usual plus points of a Sam Smiths pub but...
next to impossible to get served when it's busy - ie after 5pm !
Queued for a while but gave up and left.
Bit of a shame really.

The Rose and Crown, Halstead

An excellent pub.
Don't need to say anything else.

Polhill Arms, Halstead

closed and boarded up.

The Carpenters Arms, Marble Arch

Guess you could say a hidden pub that really stands out.
Just a few minutes from the chaos and terrible pubs around Oxford St.
This pub mixes locals and refugees from local offices with a positive vibe.
Always a selection of beers on tap and the Harveys was particulary well

The Bulls Head, Pratt's Bottom

Went along to their annual beer festival this past weekend.
There was a good selection of beers (about a dozen).
Once again a visit to to this pub was a relaxed and pleasant time.
I think The Bull is just a proper, well run pub and all the better for it.

Bolingey Inn, Perranporth

Fantastic looking pub, but on a recent visit to Cornwall this was the only pub
to dissapoint. The beer was cloudy and the food awful ( hugh dodgy looking
sausages ).
