Bricklayers Arms, Chipstead

What a find this pub is, excellent beer at an excellent price. I thought I had been undercharged but no, the barman was correct. Very good food menu with bar meals reasonably priced.Makes a change to go somewhere close to London and not get fleeced for a beer.

Radjel Inn, Pendeen

Nice village pub with good beer and food. Attractive from the outside but a bit tierd on the inside. Did n't get a chance to try the North just down the road so cannot make a comparision but this pub is well wort a visit if you are passing or staying in the area.

Kings Arms, Paul

I was recommended this pub by some friends who visited there last year. The pub looks from the outside looks what every traditional village pub should look like, and the inside is very cosy. My friends recommended the homemade curry which I found to be very good for a pub curry. The beer was excellent especially the HSD. I would recommend this pub as I found the staff courteous and helpful even to the point that because we have a dog, we normally sit outside in the garden but they said we could come inside and eat with the dog, providing he was well behaved which he is. Food prices run off the mill, not the cheapest but definately not the dearest compared to surban London/Kent. Beer excellent, people friendly, food good, what more could you want.

The Rose and Crown, Halstead

What a great pub. I took my father in law there for his birthday for a meal. We had fish and chips fresh from Grimsby, excellent!!! The landlord is extremely friendly and advised us on what real ales were worth a try. I tried a pint of East Street from Devon and I can honestly say it was probably one of the best beers I have ever had all bar one pint of Adnams I had many years ago, straight from the wood from a pub on the Norfolk Broads. I was so impressed with the Rose and Crown that I took a mate along the following week and enjoyed a few more ales. I only wish I lived a bit closer as it's hard to get to by public transport. I definately will be using this pub more in the future and I really want to try the sunday roasts. Well done to the Rose and Crown.

The Crown, Groombridge

Great village pub, excellent food and very friendly. Even allowed myself and my family with a dog to sit in the pub on a very British day (Rain!!!!!) and eat, See my review on the Dorset Arms, Wytham E.Sussex which was very disappointing.

The Dorset Arms, Withyham Hartfield

I had very high expectations of this pub after reading several reviews. We had been on a family day out and although admittedly late in the afternoon I was told that food had stopped being served which I was ok with due to the time. My party consisted of myself, my wife,2 teenage children and a dog. The day was rather damp and miserable and I did not assume that we could just bring the dog into the pub, so intially stood in the porch area, but we were told by the bar staff that we could bring the dog into the bar area. We duly did that and I was about to order some drinks when the young barmaid advised me that my two teenage children were not allowed in the public bar but the dog was. When I asked where my children were allowed, she advised us that they could go through to the now closed restaurant but the dog couldn't (understandable). We did no more but but voice our disgust at English hospitality and left. We went along to The Crown at Groombridge and were not only allowed to all sit in a very cosy bar area but had a delightful meal cooked specially by the chef even thou the restaurant had officially closed, Now there's hospitality for you!!!
