The Bell and Crown, Canterbury

Great place to sample good food and decent ale while your friends do a bit of God Bothering at the Cathedral. All beers were good and the Fish and Chips was excellent.

Crate, Hackney Wick

Good range of beers. Seems busy al the time. The Piazza's are very good. Beer can be a bit pricey although sometimes the beers can be over 6%, so higher prices attract higher duty. Worth a visit definitely.

The Queens Head, St Pancras

A tastefully decorated side street pub with a good atmosphere. Lots of games on the tables for people to use . We drank Adnams Broadside all evening and it was in very fine condition . We also had a decent Pork Pie. Worth the short walk from Kings X

12 Sep 2010 21:52

The Angel, Rainham

they had a mini beer fest weekend 14-15 August , nice beers and good prices . All round a decent little boozer off the beaten track , but worth the effort

17 Aug 2010 14:34

The Match Maker, Bow

This Pub has shut ! , dont know why exactly but suspect its because it wasn't making money and the management were unable to control the local pond life which meant they had to keep spending money on security people . Roman Road Market used to have at least 5 pubs in one form or another ,Hand and Flower , Denmark Arms, The Trader + a couple more - all shut .

12 Aug 2010 17:16

The Dog and Duck, Soho

went in their before going into Ronnie Scotts for a Jazz gig , the beer was in good nick but boy was it pricey , a 3.7% was 4.25 and a 4.5% beer was 4.60, ouch

12 Aug 2010 17:09

Grapes, Croston

excellent beer condition , a bit disappointed with the range , ie London pride and Green King IPA , but couldnt argue with the condition , the guest beers were very good and seemed to sell out quickly . The food was excellent , all round highly commended

The Hamilton Hall, Liverpool Street

I've been going in this pub for several years now and the beer is always so so , never brilliant , but never undrinkable . I suspect the are using CO 2 top pressure ( dont know 100% only suspect ) as the beer is always bland . There's better places close by for decent Ale and this really is transit point for people getting onto trains going home , or an after work meeting point for going somewhere else . Always a good choice of beers , but there's something distinctly lacking about it , atmosphere and that extra effort on the beer quality that would make it well worth a visit

The Match Maker, Bow

Under new management as of Dec 2009 - I hope they have better luck controlling the local Pond Life than previous Managers . The beers were 1.65 a pint and in good nick , you cant grumble at the prices. It appears to be a kind of pre-meet venue for people who are going clubbing , particularly at weekends . This is where they come to tank up on cheap alcohol I would suggest . 2-3 door security people who will check you over if they want too . A large cavernous pub that can hold a couple hundred people . Many other local pubs have shut , ie Hand & Flower , The Trader , + a couple of others . If you want a good local the Eleanor Arms is easily the best pint in the area , about a 5 minute walk .

The Queens Head, Limehouse

I hadnt been in here for many a year, probably at least 10. Still a typical back street east end boozer. Good Youngs Ordinary and the Winter Warmer - Do visit to see exactly how hundreds of Pubs actually were in the east end many a year ago -

The Bell Inn, Nottingham

We visited this Pub on a Monday evening when they had on a very good Jazz band . The food was very tasty and reasonable for a town centre establishment. The beer was in excellent condition with a good choice. Very good Pub , the only thing I wasnt keen on was that it feels and looks like its part of a big chain , but it isnt ( I dont think it is ) Stays open until 11:30 . Well worth a visit

18 Nov 2009 14:44

The Bay Horse Inn, Hatfield

I visited this pub some 18 months ago in June 2008 when we thought it was good beer and food . It still is very good beer and the home cooked food is a very reasonable price . They are still serving the same Ales Black Sheep & John Smith Cask , both in very good condition. This pub was pretty full for a wet night in November and the guy who runs it does an excellent job. He also has some letting rooms which are cheap and clean - Well worth a visit if you are in the area.

18 Nov 2009 14:40

The Coopers Arms, Rochester

Very good , visited this as part of a Saturday crawl through Rochester . Good well kept beers , friendly atmosphere , a bit out of the town centre , so doesn't attract the local pond life of Wetherspoons - well worth a visit

12 Nov 2009 12:25

One Bell, Crayford

Currently under total re-vamp , bought by a local footballer who's done well for himself, be interesting to see what the result is as its a complete makeover by the looks of

The Drum, Walthamstow

The beer here was excellent , I tried both Acorn brewery beers and they were superb in their condition , the dark one being very good . The pubs a bit tatty but the beer was excellent

7 Sep 2009 15:21

The William IV, Leyton

You cant really argue with the proposition here , 1.99 a pint , a good choice of ales and excellent Thai food . A real big space inside and finally somebody running a pub the way they used to be run in the east end . Good stuff

7 Sep 2009 15:17

The Triangle Tavern, Lowestoft

Generally get here a couple of times a year and as usual the beer was excellent , highly recommended to people who like their beer . Good atmosphere and friendly bar staff

The Evening Star, Brighton

I always visit the Evening Star and have never been disappointed by the selection and Quality of the beer available , par excellence for pub with plenty of local competition.

29 Jul 2009 15:10

The Chequer Inn, Steyning

A group of us stayed overnight and rooms were clean and well turned out. The beer was nothing special and we tried the Dark Star and Timothy Taylors Landlord , both were in poor to below average condition . The food in the Pub was all deep fried and format stuff supplied by Brakes Bros I suspect - not enjoyable , although the Armageddan breakfast is something to behold , you wont need to eat for the rest of the day , at least

10 Jun 2009 11:26

The Black Boy, Winchester

A real Pub with all sorts of things to see and more importantly taste. Excellent Ringwoods Best Bitter and King John . Couldn't fault the condition

The Ship, Dartford

I used to live in Dartford and this Pub is still the same as it was in 1983 , only serves Courage Best which until recently was under 2 a pint . Always great beer, no food only Bar snacks , lots of interesting pictures of Ships with local connections . Same Landlandy and Landlord ( Pam & Tony ) for over 20 years - Must see if you like a Trad local

23 Apr 2009 15:53

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch

I have been visiting this pub for over 20 years, they pioneered late opening way before its time ! , London Pride , Doombar, Brewers Gold all in decent Nick as of yesterday . I wish theyd changed that Pickerty Witch cassette though .............

The Haywain, Bramling

beer always good, food always wholesome , well worth a visit

23 Apr 2009 15:44

The Crayford Arms, Crayford

This pub has improved leaps and bounds in the last couple of years , the beers range now extents to 5 hand pumped beers ( normally all Sheps but occasional guests assocaited the Sheps alliances ) The management are trying really hard with various initaves to make this work - well worth a visit with plenty of established Community groups using it asa focul point

29 Dec 2008 22:53

The Royal Oak, Dartford

Beers are the normal Sheps range and generally I find them in good or very good condition . It can get a bit loud and the music + the various Flat screen TV's definitely make this a haunt for 20-30 brigades , but saying that is frequented by a number of regulars who are somewhat older . Better than average boozer , lively and well run

29 Dec 2008 22:43

The Wat Tyler, Dartford

27-12-2008

5 real ales on , tried 3 - all in v.good condition including a Dark Star Stout , excellent and well priced beers too. This pub has a lot of history attached to it and is well worth a visit . Attentive bar staff and somewhere to go and have a chin wag as opposed to other nearby establishments that are loud and rauchous - gh

29 Dec 2008 22:37

The North Pole, Canary Wharf

Hidden Gem , always serves decent real ale - a survivor from the days when the Docks around were thriving

24 Oct 2008 11:41

The Eleanor Arms, Bow

Has 3 Sheps beers currently and the Kents best was in superb nick . Some interesting posters and pictures on the walls. Some investment on decore has resulted in this pub becoming a decent place to visit again
