been in here a couple times before - was ok, but now i feel Wetherspoons are attracting the real whinos of life...virtually everyone else in here was an absolute piss head, young & old (and this was Saturday lunch time!) my worst experience in a Wetherspoons ever, not nice , one drunk old woman at the bar could hardly talk and the staff opened her purse, took out her tenner for her, then put the change back in - UNBELIEVABLE !!!

...much much better back in the 90s, must have been toned down so not to upset the toffs in the Castle opposite?

not impressed, crammed us in for xmas works do , poor service

sort of 40 + lads pub, when you're too old to go clubbing, ok if you're into that "I'm still a Geezer" mentality...
28 Feb 2010 11:35
if you like all things 1970's you'll love this - dull, duller, dullest...
28 Feb 2010 11:32
was Ok when it first opened, but now like previous comments, overpopulated with scum
28 Feb 2010 11:29
horrible food - a meeting place for single mums & their screaming kids

The Victory Inn, Allerford Crossing
this was always a bit hit & miss (more miss - service poor) now the Allerford & overpriced, needs to be more like Worlds End I feel to survive?
28 Feb 2010 11:24
the sort of pub Richy & Eddy from 'Bottom' would go in...tried to rip us off with Coke that was black coloured water...
28 Feb 2010 11:22
you'd go here for wedding receptions & the like , service good, venue dull, but the kids can run around outside...
28 Feb 2010 11:20
The White Horse Inn, Bradford on Tone
disappointed, food average, about as friendly as the churchyard oppsite, & atmoshere like the moon - typical Bradford mentality...blue rinse WI village...
28 Feb 2010 11:17
used to have a right pi** head as a landlady, foul mouthed, but I think she liked me ;) now seems to have gone too far the other way, but thats modern day Halse im afraid ...(sigh) :(

Good food, very friendly , lovely old somerset village - how they should be !
28 Feb 2010 11:11
ok, quite bland, you seem to get viewed with suspicion , but then i spose it is Wivey !
28 Feb 2010 11:10
The Three Horseshoes, Wiveliscombe
very nice homecooked food when i went a few years back, small but nice, not a very warm welcome, but i think new landlords now?
28 Feb 2010 11:08
heard some bad reviews , but not too bad, busy, but food was OK
28 Feb 2010 11:05
again, back in the 80's this pub was lovely , hanging baskets outside , real effort made, now long gone...shame
28 Feb 2010 11:03
The Holman Clavel Inn, Culmhead
nice old cosy pub, especially in winter, but the locals know if you're not from round these parts ! (maximum accepted radius roughly 1 mile tops !)
28 Feb 2010 11:00
now this is a shame, was a very good pub a few years back, but when the old landlord retired it went downhill :(
28 Feb 2010 10:58
The Worlds End, Bradford On Tone
sometimes a bit hit & miss food wise, but usually Ok, nice roomy pub, done out quite nice
28 Feb 2010 10:56
food good but expensive , looks shut due to all the weeds, door around the opposite side to road, don't bother walking around the estate (sorry "village") afterwards , even with beer goggles it still everything thats wrong with modern british housing - Ugh!!
28 Feb 2010 10:54
OMG - yes, a local pub for local people only, if you have an IQ into double figures then you can't come in...
28 Feb 2010 10:49
The Allerford Inn, Allerford Crossing
hit and miss as the Victory, now overpriced as the Allerford :(
28 Feb 2010 10:48
The Naval and Military, Taunton
now this really was a classic, just like the 'Two Ways' pub in Rab C Nesbitt, only with worse characters...
28 Feb 2010 10:44
don't be fooled by the thatched roof - typical estate pub - full of chavvy kids who think their Mike Tyson....drive on !
28 Feb 2010 10:40
nice homemade food but a bit bigger portion would of been nice, lovely friendly lady served me ;) don't go here if you anti - hunting tho LOL
28 Feb 2010 10:38
overspill of priorswood chavs - this is their whole life - avoid !
28 Feb 2010 10:32
Another one that seems to have the great unwashed / unemployable blocking up the doorway every daytime.
As I drive by in my work van, I thank the Lord my taxes go to worthwhile causes...
28 Feb 2010 10:30
Oh, and Tauntons answer to Rab C Nesbitt & friends stare at you through the glass frontage as you pass by...life is tough on benefits !
28 Feb 2010 10:27
I feel these reviews are a bit harsh, Ok it wasn't the pub it was when John ran it, but the food was always great value scrummy pub grub - the best in the area ! I hear it may be open again soon? lets hope so for the grub / games / jukebox - good atmos when full...

So Keith, did it eventually metamorphosis into a butterfly and float away?
