Usual good selection of real ales. Fruit wine selection deserves a mention as well. Family room a plus. Prices of ale prominently displayed.

The Endeavour, Whitby

Good selection of real ales. Had a pint of Sambrooks Wandle, which was surprising, as it had travelled a good distance. Relaxing atmosphere.

The Shambles, Whitby

After two visits last week, both lunchtime, on Monday and Friday, I feel a bit ambivalent about this pub. The selection and quality of beer was fine, and on the Monday lunchtime, we had a good value meal, the steak and ale pie being superb. Unfortunately, this wasn't repeated on the Friday, the cod we ordered being overdone and being of small size for the money. We did tell the guy serving this, but weren't offered any recompense, the only response being "thanks for letting us know", quite politely I would add. The difference in quality of the meals on different days was quite marked- can only assume different chefs
