Now gone.

The Sports Bar, Castel

Now residential.

25 Jan 2016 22:39

George Hotel, Orton

A great place to dine when staying at nearby Scar Side Farm.

20 Feb 2010 11:14

The Hare and Hounds Inn, Appleby in Westmorland

Very pleasant. Friendly welcome. Nice brew. Would definitely visit again.

20 Feb 2010 11:09

Globe, Kendal

Nice pint, decent grub, not expensive. We'd definitely go here again.

10 Sep 2009 09:47

The Rambler Country House, Edale

A decent pint and a reasonable lunch. But we were gobsmacked when one of our party was refused an extra roll to go with his soup. "Pay for a bead-basket or lump it".

14 Apr 2009 10:08

Trevor Arms, Glynde

The landlord is a man of few words, but he pulls a pleasant pint.

28 Oct 2007 18:29

The St Saviours Tavern, St Saviours

It's gone! Closed down 8/9/07. Shame! They say it will be rebuilt ...but time will tell.

8 Oct 2007 13:41

The Salerie Inn, Guernsey

Now gone and contents auctioned off.

26 Apr 2007 20:56

The Llandoger, Bristol

Lovely pint of Old Speckled Hen, tasty meal and not expensive. No sign of the ghost.

15 Jan 2007 23:11

Sam Wellers, Bath

Can't vouch for the beer, but had a tasty bar lunch January 07 served by very pleasant staff.

15 Jan 2007 22:59

Prestonville Arms, Brighton

Only been once, but the steak and ale pie was fan-tastic.

9 Oct 2006 22:32

The Eagle, Brighton

This talk of agism is rubbish. Good lot of beers on tap. Super menu, but don't go unless you are REALLY hungry.

3 Oct 2006 21:15

The Cock Inn, Ringmer

Delightful place with extremely comprehensive menu - but it can get busy. Definitely one Jack and I would go back to.

23 Jul 2006 16:33

The Salerie Inn, Guernsey

Nice old pub looking out over Guernsey's East coast. Sadly, owners have just announced their intention to close it.

23 Jul 2006 16:19

The 1066, Battle

We had Sunday roast here. Fantastic! The beef was sliced as thick as your hand and the perfectly cooked spuds were as big as cannon balls.

23 Jul 2006 14:05

The Mermaid Tavern, Herm Island

This is a gem of a pub on a paradise island. The interior remains cosy and traditional, while the courtyard outside accommodates the crowds who flock here (via ferry from Guernsey) on fine summer days. A definite favourite of Mikeandjack. Try it! (But don't fall in the harbour on your way home)

12 Jul 2006 13:46

The Bankers Draught, St Peter Port

Now reverted to its previous name "The White Hart". Pleasant,
lively Town pub.

6 Jul 2006 23:02

The Dorset Arms, St Peter Port

Very pleasant pub on the outskirts of Town, a stone's throw from Victor Hugo's House. Est-ce-que l'homme clbre a but ici?

25 Jun 2006 09:11

The Hangmans Inn, St Andrews

Planning application is in for conversion to funeral parlour.

25 Jun 2006 09:03

The Drunken Duck, Guernsey

Previously "The Albert Arms". A cosy pub.

14 Jun 2006 08:25

Chandlers, Vale

Not the most inspiring of public house architecture. Perhaps the interior makes up for it.

13 Jun 2006 13:18

The Pony Inn, St Sampsons

With refurbishment has come a new name "Oliver's". It's just not the same.

13 Jun 2006 13:11

The Stocks Hotel, Sark

Get the Ferry from Guernsey to Maseline Harbour, take the hike up Harbour Hill, jump on your hired bike then ten minutes furious pedalling to Stocks for that first pint - bliss.

11 Jun 2006 09:10

The Houmet Tavern, Vale

On Guernsey's north coast, right next to an interesting WW2 German bunker, and overlooking Grand Havre Bay. Terrific location, terrific grub.

3 May 2006 20:35

The Deerhound Inn, Forest

Just refurbished.

30 Apr 2006 08:26

The Queens Hotel, St Martins

Very pleasant. Public and lounge bars, really good food.

29 Apr 2006 19:57

The St Saviours Tavern, St Saviours

The decor is definitely tired, but at least the place survives. Owners want to demolish and redevelop the site, but petitions and appeals from locals seem so far to have kept the demolition men at bay. Sample its fare before it's too late!

28 Apr 2006 18:24

Blind O'Reilly's, St Sampsons

This pub is located to the south of St Sampsons Harbour. A few photos on the wall along with the odd relic do little to persuade that you are in an "Irish" pub. Maybe it should have stuck to its original name, "English and Guernsey Arms". But it can deliver a decent pint along with a cheap and cheerful lunch.

27 Apr 2006 19:14

The Wicked Wolf, St Martins

Don't go here unless you're hungry!

27 Apr 2006 10:40

The Rockmount, Castel

Probably Guernsey's most popular out-of-town pub. Local beers on tap, second-to-none bar lunches and delightful views over Cobo Bay. Spectacular in winter, when from the comfort of the front bar you can watch Atlantic breakers pounding the sea wall, just across the road.

26 Apr 2006 19:20

The Evening Star, Brighton

Plenty of brews to sample. 'Gents' could do with an upgrade.

24 Apr 2006 22:31

The Old Ship, Ringmer

Very busy when we called, but despite this the service was excellent. A nice pint and no complaints about the menu. Definitely one we'd go back to.

24 Apr 2006 22:23

L'Eree Hotel, St Pierre du Bois

Once a quaint little fisherman's bar, expansion and "upgrades" have removed much of its character. Still serves a nice pint and does a decent bar meal. Handy for the beach, a two minute walk away.

24 Apr 2006 18:12

The Imperial Hotel, Torteval

A stone's throw from the sea with superb views over Rocquaine Bay and Lihou Island. Front bar and restaurant if you're a bit smart, round the back if you're in your fishing gear. One of the few places left in Guernsey with a bit of character.

23 Apr 2006 08:55

The Library Bar, St Peter Port

Cosy, classy but not ostentatious. Has a "colonial" feel to it, with good old fashioned service to match. Excellent food. Excellent value.

23 Apr 2006 08:41

La Villette Hotel Bar, St Martins

Comfortable restaurant with good menu. I recommend the haddock and chips and chicken curry. It lets itself down a bit in the vegetable department. Nice setting, parking, welcomes kids.

22 Apr 2006 21:48

The Hangmans Inn, St Andrews

This was a nice pub, when it was open. Do not invest in Christmas Savings Club.

22 Apr 2006 14:46

The Cock and Bull, St Peter Port

Best choice of beers in Guernsey

22 Apr 2006 14:43

The Doghouse, St Peter Port

When we went it was quiet, service and menu were excellent.

22 Apr 2006 14:39

The Longfrie Inn, St Pierre du Bois

Famous for the witch on the roof. More restaurant than pub. Good value. Nice location. Plenty parking. Kids welcome. Some tables outside.

22 Apr 2006 14:37

The Old Smugglers Inn, St Brelade

Superb site, superb atmosphere, superb food, superb pint, superb value. Just superb!
