Ye Old Red Cow, Smithfield

I reserved a table for the England game and arrived at 3 for the 11 o'clock kick off
The beer was great and nothing was too much trouble and when we eventually moved to our table upstairs it was table service.

I will be booking another table very soon for the next game i watch with my mates

Great beer, great pub and great bar staff.

The Water Poet, Shoreditch

Been going here for 3 years and its a great little pub
Beer is expensive but the staff are very helpful and nice as well as the food being very reasonable (keep an eye out for their 2 for 1 offers)

Might nip in now for a quick pint

The Owl and the Pussycat, Shoreditch

Been here a few times and the staff are cool as you like but very open and friendly- beer is good and the small back garden is great for a beer and a ciggi

Have eaten there twice and no complaints but do avoid the garlic fries if you intend on speaking to anyone afterwards.

Will be going back

The Brocket Arms, Ayot St. Lawrence

Went back last night for the first time since the refurb.
Decided to cycle from Welwyn Garden City fro a spot of supper and a few beers
Arrived at 7.20 and was told that the bar food finished at 7 but I could have the restaurant menu at 17 for two courses.
Bit pricey when all I wanted was a ploughman's or a scampi and chips so asked if they could ask the kitchen what they could do.
First bartender simply said no but at least the second asked but alas he was told that as they only had two chefs this was not possible
I obviously understood the pressure of a busy restaurant as it must be difficult to prep and serve the 6 people that were in there

Was going to have a nice evening and in fact did but not at this Pub
I would avoid unless all you want is a beer served by a surly teenager
I give the pub 12 months

Such a shame but at least the White Horse in Welwyn still cares about its customers

The Clarendon, Chandlers Cross

I have to say that I had a wonderful experience at the Clarendon. The atmosphere was great and I would hate to think how much they have spent on the decor and set-up but I really think it works.

Barry the Chef even came to our table to say hello and recommended I change my starter to the pork which was one of the best dishes I have ever had.
So in summary it was not cheap but rare that you get this quality in a more rural location.
I could eat there every week and have recommended this to a number of people who I hope will enjoy the experience as much as I did.
