The Maltings, York

We visited the Maltings again on Saturday. The beer was good, as usual, and we appreciated the extra room now that the bar area has been extended.

The Cock and Bottle, York

Fairly loud/lively sports pub with 2 tvs in one small bar area. Only tried the John Smiths which was fine.

24 Feb 2013 17:35

The Ackhorne, York

This is a really nice traditional pub just off Micklegate. They serve a good choice of beers including Westmalle (The Wife's favourite tipple). Well worth a visit!!

The Artful Dodger, York

Beer & service were ok but not sure that we would go back there again....

The Woolpack Inn, Chilham

Really nice friendly village pub with a good atmosphere. The beer which i tried was Master Brew which went down very well. The food was also very enjoyable.

The White Horse, Chilham

This pub is in the centre of Chilham. The Beer which i tried here (Cornish Coaster), which was a replacement for Doombar, and was very nice. The food which we tried was also very good, but the atmosphere seemed a little chilly.

The Bat and Barrel, Luton

Visited this pub again on Thursday. The beer was still very poor and i was shocked to see the landlord closing the pub at 20:30. Make up your own minds!!

The Lendal Cellars, York

This pub has a few real ales but seems to lack some atmosphere

The Essex Serpent, Covent Garden

The beer here was fine (we tried the Adnams) and this was the only pub where we managed to get a seat, but the pub somehow seemed to lack a bit of character.

The White Lion, Covent Garden

We enjoyed our visit here so much that we went back later for another drink. The atmosphere was very friendly but busy. Doombar was very good.

8 Nov 2009 10:18

The Lamb and Flag, Covent Garden

Nice pub with a good atmosphere. My pint of directors went down very well.

8 Nov 2009 10:14

Lowlander, Covent Garden

We agree with one of the earlier comments about the prices here. We had one pint of Zot and a bottle of Westmelle (which we collected ourselves) and paid the princely sum of 10.70. Another point is that the layout of the pub resembles a school canteen which doesn't really help the atmosphere.

O'Neills, Euston Road

Nice pub just across the road from St. Pancras station. The food and prices were good although it wasn't easy getting a table early on. The Irish Bitter (the only one on hand pump) could only be bought from the downstairs bar but went down very well.........

14 Jul 2009 20:39

14 Jul 2009 20:28

Another nice York pub with lots of character. We enjoyed some time in the Cellar bar sampling some of the selection of ales.

31 May 2009 19:39

The Maltings, York

We visited The Maltings for the first time on Friday. We agree with the previous comments about the good range of ales and the abundance of character this pub possesses. Highly recommended.

The Hoop and Toy, South Kensington

We visited this pub yesterday afternoon. I had a couple of pints of London Pride which tasted very good. We both ordered food which was ok for pub grub but we were particularly impressed at the lengths which the barman went to to make sure that my partner's food did not contain any mushrooms. (She is allergic to them). He couldn't do enough to help.

17 Apr 2009 22:34

The Rose and Crown, Hitchin

Looks nice from the outside but had bright lighting and didn't serve real ale

8 Mar 2009 17:35

8 Mar 2009 17:32

8 Mar 2009 17:18

The Bricklayers Arms, Hitchin

This is a sports pub with a friendly atmosphere. The Youngs beer was good.

8 Mar 2009 17:15

The Boot, St Albans

I visited this pub tonight. I tried the Adnams but it tasted off. I asked the barman to taste it but was told that it was a new version of Adnams and that he wouldn't try it. Please make your own conclusions!!!!

24 Aug 2008 22:48

25 Nov 2007 16:07

Castle Tavern, Luton

I have been to this pub tonight (02-10-07) and was amazed to be told by the bar maid that she was closing the bar at 21:30 as there were not enough customers in the pub. I later saw her embracing her boyfriend outside the pub and assume she was on a promise. I won't be visiting this pub again!!!

3 Oct 2007 00:00

The Fancott Arms, Fancott

Nice friendly country pub. The food we have had from this pub has always been very good and the real ale has been kept in good order.

29 Sep 2007 23:13

Turfcutters Arms, East Boldre

We stayed at this pub for a couple of nights. I agree with all of the comments below that the food and drink are very good and that you are made to feel very welcome by the staff and the locals. My only slight negative is that the accommodation is very basic but is probably suitable for cyclists/walkers.

29 Sep 2007 23:08

Ship and Royal, Lytham St Annes

The bitter at this pub was particularly bad. I will not be returning.

29 Sep 2007 23:00

Warden, Luton

The food served here is ok but the real ale is quite often not on, leaving just the high pressure Tetleys if you like bitter.

29 Sep 2007 22:42

The Slug and Lettuce, St Albans

Drink prices are above average and doesn't sell Bitter

29 Sep 2007 22:33

The Taps, Lytham St Annes

This pub comes highly recommended. It has plenty of character, a good choice of real ales (in good condition) and brilliant service from the staff.

29 Sep 2007 21:33

The Bat and Barrel, Luton

I agree with previous views that the beer is regularly in a poor state. The pub desperately needs a re-fit but is fortunate to have a few loyal customers
