The Highwayman, Rainow

Now closed - big shame as this place had lots of character..

Little Barrel, Dudley

Worst pub I've ever been in - by a long way! Don't expect ale, all 8 hand-pumps are just there for the flies to sit on. Do keep your mouth shut on the way out (if you accidentally wander in) - flies are everywhere.. grim.

The Alehouse, Reading

Good beers, great character, nice ambience - I liked this pub but really wanted to love it - "hygiene factors" let it down; just needs someone to clean it better and more!

Blind Jacks, Knaresborough

Agree with all the positive reviews - really glad I visited after seeing recommendations on BITE; will definitely go out of my way to go back. Friendly, cosy, good beer selection.

The Old Red Lion, Holmes Chapel

Although there are other pubs in the village we always end up here, so I suppose this is my local. It's an Ember Inn, so you know that there'll be no huge surprises. Having said that, this is a large, clean, very friendly, consistent place to eat and drink. And the real ales are varied and well kept, with tasters freely available.

The Beartown Tap, Congleton

Very unique pub. Tiny bar stocking what seems like hundreds of beers. Diverse and friendly crowd of beer-lovers. Definitely one of the best real pubs..

The Bluebell, Smallwood

Homely, friendly, characterful, great beers, beautiful beer garden. A proper pub.. probably my favoutite pub!

The Pigs Nose, East Prawle

One of the most magical pubs I've ever been to. Eccentric is the right word. Brilliant live music, drinking until early hours, dressing-up box (funny hats all round), very child-friendly. We got there late and there was no cash machine in the village - but the barmaid happily suggested we keep drinking and settle up later as we were there all weekend, weren't we?!

The Herschel Arms, Slough

Not just the best pub I've found in Slough, but one of the best anywhere. Very good jukebox and Guinness. Landlord naturally very hospitable. I stay in Slough through work now and again and will always visit this pub.
