Birdys Bar, Highams Park

Ventured in here for the first time yesterday, having livied in the area for 3 years. I had been warned that it was very unfriendly and cliquey by some people that I know. I can confirm that they were wrong. Barman was very friendly upon our arrival and there were no funny looks from any of the patrons. The bar was full of the sound of people having a good time and had Sky Sports on the tele. Like other reviewers have previously said, it's not the smartest, but is light years ahead of 'The County'. Reasonably priced too.

The Southwark Tavern, London Bridge

Just read jpm's review. I witnessed the "it's there for a reason" incident. Truly shocking. Coincidentally, my poor experience was about 5 minutes prior to this.

The Southwark Tavern, London Bridge

Nice venue, decent beer. Rude staff who seem to prefer chatting up girls and getting telephone numbers to serving beers (who doesn't, but they are there to serve drinks, not service frippet). Took about 20 minutes to get served on my last visit and it wasn't even particularly busy. When I raised this (politely) with a bearded member of the bar team, he looked at me as if I was something he had just stepped in and went about his business filling the dishwasher with glasses, without saying a word. With customer service skills like that, it's no wonder he's been restricted to collecting dirty glasses. I can imagine he'd swing for anyone who made a difficult order or made some kind of complaint.

The Jolly Gardeners, Earlsfield

This is no longer a pub as such. Has recently been converted to a restaurant/bar. No Football means I will only be visiting on rare occasions. Gorgeous blonde Canadian barmaid is the best thing about the Jolly Gardeners these days.

The Engine and Tender, Ampthill

Be careful where you sit. A lot of seats get reserved for the regulars. Ropey Guinness.

The Sun, Clapham

The Sun is one of the few reasons that I still venture into Clapham. Nice Staropramen, the food looks good and I am reliably informed its delicious. Beer garden is great in the summer, quite busy but that just adds to the ambience. To top it off I dont think I have had a bad night there yet.

The Pilgrim Bar & Kitchen, Kennington

Are there any good pubs in this area? After a trip to the Pilgrim I do not think I can bring myself to go out for a drink in this area ever again. The pints of Kronenbourg that we drank tasted very strange, almost chemical like.

The pub was empty on a saturday night. The staff were unwelcoming and the one other patron was one of the most odious people I have ever come across.

Steer well clear if you like beer.... or pubs for that matter because this place is certainly not worthy of the title.

Prince Of Wales, Clapham

I have been to this pub apparently, at the time I was so drunk I had no real idea where I was, the decor added to the drunkeness. Great Bust of Joan of Arc.

The Old Sun, Ampthill

Excellent pub, good beer selection and nice proper pub feel. By far the best pub in Ampthill and has been for a very long time. Dave Raggett still makes the occasional guest appearance to lend a hand. New Decking out back is a real bonus as is the bouncy castle. New pool table looks nice but is probably the quickest I have ever played on!
