The Chestnut Horse Inn, Great Kelk

Made a special trip here for my friends birthday, first called last May. Unfortunately it is no longer run by the same landlord, so the pies have gone. Asked if they still did them, and was told that people wanted a choice of foods, I would have to disagree as apart from ourselves there was one other couple in. Landlord and his wife were very welcoming, the food was nice but not special. I wish them well but I think the writing is on the wall.

The Woolpack, Esholt

I first visited The Commercial as this pub was originally called back in the early seventies round about the time that Emmerdale started using it, over the years I visited quite often it was always a nice little pub. I hadn't visited since the late nineties and with a bit of nostalgia in my veins I visited about two weeks ago. I wish I hadn't what a hole this place has become, if the landlords are re-decorating or have redecorated as mentioned in previous comment then their idea of a colour scheme has to be seen, Stark white lights, a hotch potch of non matching chairs and tables this place is like a tea shop that happens to sell beer, what a great shame. The only redeeming feature was that I had one of the best pints of Landlord I have had in years. Avoid like the plague until somebody says it is a proper pub again

The Duck Inn, Bridge

I found this pub on Google Earth whilst trawling for places to eat and drink on my upcoming holiday. So duly noted, my lady friend and i decided that it would be Mondays venue, We were very hungry by the time we got there only to find it doesn't open on a Monday, not happy at all, So The Jakdaw at Denton got our business, but on a happier note we called on Thursday night just for a drink. Handpulled and gravity dispense, sadly not every county has this now, but Kent it seems has quite a few outlets for this way of serving beer. The young lady behind the bar was very friendly as was the pub dog. So happy in the end

The Golden Pheasant, Knutsford

Completely the opposite of the last review, found this pub by accident, although beer was just average which is a shame as I like Lees, anyway had the biggest fish I have ever seen on a plate, homemade chips, mushy peas fantastic it nearly beat me and I can eat. Followed by Treacle Tart and Custard, possibly a bit pricey but worth every penny. Great bar staff, exceptionally friendly and courteous

The Butchers Arms, Eldersfield

Found this pub in the 2002 gbg when it must have been called the greyhound. Also gbg said it's in worcestershire, although it does have gloucester post code. Were the first people in, so maybe didn't see it at it's best. Interestingly the beer is served gravity which is a rarity nowadays. Had a decent pint of Wye Valley Bitter. Apparantley has a yearly beer festival, which is next week and live music

The Forest House, Chester

There are far better places to go in Chester than this, visited on Good Friday, thought it was a weatherspoons not a lloyds, beer was ok. But if you want a decent pint then go to Harkers ( costly ) or the Mill Hotel.
