Casa, Wimbledon

Was this the same place known as the Pitcher and Piano until someone was thrown through a window and killed?

The Dog and Fox, Wimbledon Village

Can be a bit rowdy at times and i've seen it kick off in here on a couple of occasions. Usually the Roehampton or Mitcham scum are involved though. A shame really because other than that its not a bad pub.

The Hand In Hand, Wimbledon Common

What can i say...a good pub (in the summer). Lovely atmosphere and no chavs. You might get the odd hooray henry in but no riff raff from Mitcham.

The Fox and Grapes, Wimbledon Common

Best pub on wimbledon common. I have fond memories of coming here on hot summer evenings and enjoying the beers. The hand in hand is also a good pub but my judgement is clouded by my rose tinted spectacles!

The King Of Denmark, West Wimbledon

I like this place, it has character and its grungey feel is great because it so pisses off the local residents who feel it affects their property prices. Actually its not that bad and is an old fashioned pub. If the la de da locals don't like the fact that it doesn't sell Harvey Wallbangers then welcome to the real world where most of us serfs live.

The Swan Tavern, West Wimbledon

A poseurs paradise. Not bad in the summer when you could sit in the garden, but i always preferred the Denmark next door. At least that felt like being in a pub.

The Hand and Raquet, Wimbledon

I wouldn't eat here but if you can find a table then its a massive improvement on the sad old failed lunatic asylum next door.

All Bar One, Wimbledon

All bar one pubs are all lacking in atmosphere and this one is no different.Ok for a quick one as part of a pub crawl but thats about it. Expensive too.

The Alexandra, Wimbledon

oh boy, what a collection of hardened alcoholics. Overpriced and uncomfortable with a passing selection of junkies who do the rounds playing the fruit machines in the wimbledon circuit. If this was the only pub in town i'd slash my wrists...fortunately the hand and racquet next door is much better.

The Wheelwrights Arms, Kingston Upon Thames

Not a bad pub. Small, compact and central.

The Fighting Cocks, Kingston Upon Thames

Great pub. Good jukebox and good beers. I saw Eric Clapton in here years ago too.

The Claret Wine Bar, Cheam Village

Good staff, good beer, great food. A severe lack of seating doesn't help though, and the layout of the place can be a pain in the arse when trying to carry beers from the bar to the tables.

The Harrow Inn, Cheam

Good beers but on a friday or saturday night there is NEVER anywhere to sit indoors. You also get a lot of corporate suits who come in here after a hard day 'in the city'.

The Railway Hotel, Cheam

oh, i meant the curry house make 'mistakes' with the bills, not the pub.

The North End Tavern, Worcester Park

I haven't been here for years as it was a hardened boozers pub back in the 80s and 90s.

The Earl Beatty, Motspur Park

This is not the place to come if you are on a pub crawl as i guess the next nearest pub must be either the Beverley or the Raynes Park Tavern, both at least a mile and a half away. Motspur Park isn't that bad an area but this pub is both disturbingly quiet at times and lacks personality. Still, if you get peckish there are two curry houses and a kebab shop over the road.

The Plough (Harvester), Worcester Park

Great decor inside this pub but its a bit souless which it shouldn't be considering its about 300 years old. The food is nice (well, its a Harvester) and nice beers but the local chavs congregate outside by the ponds (encouraged no doubt by the Co-op on the other side of the road). There is a shortage of seating at times but the 213 bus stops outside and there are a couple of excellent curry houses opposite.

Woodies, New Malden

The beers are good and its great during the hot summer months as there is a cricket pitch next door where you can sit down. The problem is that unless you are driving (and there is a big car park) then its a pain in the arse to get to. Also, it gets real busy at times and there is a shortage of floorspace. I don't know if its true but apparently a lot of old bill go there off duty so drink drivers beware.

The Fountain, New Malden

This pub should be a decent boozer but the problem is that it goes through phases. Until last year they had a decent landlord who didn't take any crap from morons, but since he left the local rubbish have crept in. The pikey's from chessington have been banned from most local places so i guess this is the nearest they can find...and you can hear them from the other side of the pub. The staff are ok and the beers are acceptable. The food is standard Brake brothers catering fayre, unexceptional and bland...but cheapish. There is also quite a nice garden which is good in the summer.

There is a decent sized car park and the place is right next to bus stops that serve all the major routes that go through new malden (131, 213, 265, 152, x1 and so on). There are also a couple of decent curry houses within 10 minutes walk. The fountain does quite well through default really. Its not a great pub but considering the Royal oak is the best part of a mile away, Woodies isn't on any major public transport routes and local rivals don't have the floorspace that the fountain has, this pub is probably the most accesible. I justy wish Barras would bring in a good, experienced landlord who would stop the lowlife from going there like the guy who ran it before.

The Royal Oak, New Malden

Probably the best pub in new malden, which when you compare the competition, isn't saying much. The bar staff are quicker and friendlier than in their rivals, and at least they make an effort every now and again by getting in local bands. Not a bad beer garden either. The beers are generally ok and certainly cheaper than Bar Malden. I've not seen too many punch ups here so i guess the landlord runs it well. The back room has a dodgy door that people never seem to remember to close when they go out, so it gets cold. Also you do get a lot of local chav's in here showing off their mobiles but to compensate they do show football games as well. On sundays the local god squad are there but they mind their own business.

All in all, not a bad boozer....but the bogs look like something from the 19th century.

Ronnie's, New Malden

Okay okay, its overpriced and there is no atmosphere at this place but at least its an option that is acceptable compared to either drinking with the piss artists who hang out in Bar malden or getting my head kicked in in the railway. The disco tha they run here is horrid and the selection of beers is quite poor (although now they do san miguel at least there is some hope). This place, whatever name it has had in the past, has always not been busy. If they really want to do some big business then try turning it into a korean friendly pub or do something different with it.
