Decent food. The HSD was wonderful. Great view over the harbor.

The Old Mill, Salisbury

Andvik, I don't think you're talking about the correct pub.

The Edge, Port Isaac

This is a nice restaurant and I had a nice meal here. It is not a pub.

The Red Lion, Avebury

Not too busy on a mid-October Monday afternoon. Food, beer, and service were all quite acceptable and provided a nice break after touring the stone circle. Avebury is a lovely little village.

The Victoria and Albert, Netherhampton

This is a wonderful place. I first visited while on holiday on a cold, damp October Monday evening and was delighted to be welcomed by a warm fire, a fine meal (the soups are excellent), a well-kept beer, and a charming landlady. When I visited again the next Friday, said charming landlady remembered me and asked about my trip to Cornwall which we had discussed during my previous visit. This is one the coziest and most welcoming pubs I have ever had the pleasure of visiting. I hope to go back, sooner rather than later.

The Bear Inn, Faversham

I visited for lunch on 22 December 2010. It was a bit disappointing. There was no Spitfire on tap. The kitchen appeared disorganized. It took nearly 45 minutes to get a "special" and they weren't busy. I was sitting near the kitchen and could hear groans coming from the cook. I think he burnt my fishcakes at least twice and everything tasted burned when I finally got it. Maybe all of this was due to the fact they were either closing the next day or weren't going to have food anymore after the next day or something. The bar maid's explanation was confusing at best.

Whatever is The Bear's fate, it is too bad. This is charming, very cozy little establishment. If I hadn't been in a hurry to get to a brewery tour, I would have been very happy to linger longer.

The Old Mill, Salisbury

Beautiful setting. I visited from the U.S. in May of 2005 and spent the good part of a Sunday afternoon sitting at an outside table overlooking the river. The kitchen was closed when I was there so I couldn't get anything to eat but the beer was good and the staff was friendly.

Duke Of Wellington, Belgravia

I love this place! I'm a Yank who occasionally comes to London. I usually stay in the area of Victoria Station. I was last at the Duke of Wellington in May 2005 and visited every evening I was in town. The beer is great. The staff is friendly. John is a great guy. Very personable. I didn't have any food during this trip but I have previously. It was good. It can get crowded and a little smoky but I never thought it was overly offensive. There isn't much when you're sitting outside but it's nice when the weather is good. I'd love to have a neighborhood pub like this at home in the U.S. Well, maybe not. I'd probably spend too much time there.
