The Plasterers Arms, Norwich

Visited Norwich last week and this was our second favourite pub - only beaten by the original Fat Cat, and that one does take some beating. The Plasterer's was friendly (very nice and helpful young barmaid) and the choice and quality of beer was very good. Well worth a visit.

The Fat Cat, Norwich

Wonderful back street boozer. No frills, great beer in terms of both choice (30 when I was there last week) and quality, and very friendly staff and clientele. Average price £3.30 which some will moan about, but they can always drink the Fat Cat bitter at £2.50! Well worth a visit, and should definitely have an average rating better than 7.5.

The Old Coach House, Southwell

Great pub, very good landlord and excellent beer - nothing more to be said!

The Royal Oak, Chesterfield

I can't actually post a review as the pub was closed when we visited, so I'm looking for advice & clarification regarding opening times before we make another journey. The 2011 GBG states that it opens until 11pm on Thursdays & Fridays, and until 11.30pm on Saturdays, albeit only until 6pm Monday to Wednesday. We visited on a Thursday evening to find it closed at 8pm - after driving 10 miles to specifically try the pub. The website has no contact details, so could anybody help please?

The Railway Inn, Mansfield

A little gem, and one of the last of a dyeing breed in Mansfield town centre. Three ever changing real ales which are almost always in tip top condition, very friendly and welcoming staff (probably 'cos they're all of the fairer sex), the best value home made steak pie ever - with hand cut chips and veg (about a fiver!) and a great open-mike evening on the third Thursday of every month. George Bateman definately did us a favour when he sold The Railway to the current owners!
