De Zotte, Amsterdam

Another excellent bar in Amsterdam, De Zotte stocks a very comprehensive Belgian beer menu. There were a number of tables for 6 reserved when I went, so I'd advise booking ahead if you are a large group. Instead, we just snuck onto the end of another couples table (after asking, of course!). Good beer, friendly staff.

We didn't eat a meal in De Zotte, but the food we saw being brought out looked very good. The cheese board was pretty good though!

Cafe Gollem, Amsterdam

A word of warning - both Caf Gollem and Biercaf Gollem were displaying notices in the window on my visit on 14/02/2011 stating that they had closed, but that Gollems Proeflokaal (Overtoom 160-162, Amsterdam) was still open and serving beers.

As such, I didn't get to try these places out, which is a shame. I didn't get to try Gollem's Proeflokaal as it was a little further out.

Cafe 't Arendsnest, Amsterdam

Excellent pub, which boasts a large selection of Dutch draft beers and bottles. Their house beer was very tasty as well. The lady behind the bar was very friendly and spent as much time with patrons as they needed. Cafe 't Arendsnest also had a good amount of cheese to munch your way through as you drink.

Sadly, I was only able to have a few beers in there because I had a dinner reservation. I went back the next day, but beware - it doesn't open until 1600! Maybe next time...
