The Barge, Gillingham

I agree with the comments here, this is a great pub in an awkward location. It's one of the best pubs in Gillingham, and I love the beer garden overlooking the river. Beer is superb, and atmosphere and clients are great!

It has a very warm feeling about this place, and I believe when I went the beer was reasonably priced as well. Not sure about the food! That will be something I will try next time I am in Gillingham (not often)

The Command House, Chatham

Agreed with Matt Clary, there is a lot that could be done with this pub. This pub is also at it's best during the summer when you can sit outside, and they have bands on the stage. In the winter however, it turns into a horrid little drinking hole.

The Prince of Wales, Chatham

This pub is so average. But it's great when the football is on. Apart from that I wouldn't really drink here, but it's probably one of the better pubs in Chatham admittedly. Then again, if you want a nice drink - don't bother drinking in Chatham. Venture to Rochester, or Maidstone. No offence, this pub is just the best Chatham has to offer in my personal opinion.

The Who'd Ha Thought It, Rochester

Brilliant pub. Used to go here on a regular basis, when my friends lived on the same road. It's got a great family atmosphere to it, and attracts the same people really... with a few exceptions... It has a brilliant beer garden... and the bar staff are the friendliest bar staff in Medway I think.

I should go here again more often, as it's a super little pub. When the football is on it has a great atmosphere as well. Highly recommended.

Old Post Office, Chatham

This pub seems to be a pub for squaddies. Which would be a great thing, if at the weekend they didn't want to fight random people. During the day it's a great pub, at night it's sort of not a pub I'd like to stay in.

The Alexandra Hotel, Chatham

This pub really surprised me! It's great in there! If I was going home from a journey, or stopping off for a few relaxing beers I'd definitely go in here. It sometimes seems quite "dead" in here, but I've seen people playing some pub games inside... and on a Sunday it attracts some bikers it seems which is not a bad thing because they seem like a cool bunch of people. Not sure about the food will have to try that out if they have any on offer! Unusual location - but just give it a go.

O'Connells Bar, Chatham

This pub scares me to be honest, I've been here a couple of times and I felt intimidated. The beer is okay, and the place is clean enough... It's just the clientelle seems rather scary to me, and I've seen a few fights outside of this pub at around knocking out time whilst waiting for a taxi next to Chatham Station.

The Tap 'n' Tin, Chatham

This pub is not for me anymore really, I've grown out of it. It was okay when I was 20 seven years ago, but I feel now it's not worth drinking there at the weekend. Too many posing youngsters go there now, and not meaning to be insulting... of course at 20 or something I was probably the same looking back. Good pub for the youth of Medway, bad pub for the older generations. (unless you're a hippy, or having a mid-life crisis)

Ye Arrow, Rochester

I agree with all the comments stated here, they're far too aggressive in this place. Yes, they may get trouble, but no it's not fair to take it out on everyone. It creates a bad atmosphere, this place is best avoided. The only reason to go to this place is if you are in a safe group of many people, that way you won't get violently attacked or threatened.

Also during the weekend, it's home to a variety of single mothers looking to obtain a younger male. Scary.

The Coopers Arms, Rochester

This pub is superb. Super beer, superb atmosphere, superb beer garden, superb food. Purely class. It's probably one of the best pubs in Rochester for a mixed crowd, and mixed atmosphere. No loutish behaviour here when I've been either, it seems to attract a really good crowd. Love this pub!

The Two Brewers, Rochester

This pub makes me laugh. It's sociable enough, and friendly enough... But it just has this odd atmosphere, and for some reason even when the rest of the high street is busy... this pub frequently is not busy. Don't get me wrong that's not a terrible thing, it's just odd!

During the week this place is a good place to avoid, unless you want to chat about something private over a beer. Because during the week, nobody will hear you as there isn't anyone else there.

City Wall Wine Bar, Rochester

Agreed, this place is for people waiting to go to the Casino rooms. I hate the new style of the place, with their idiotic lights and purple walls. It used to have a friendly pub atmosphere now it looks like psychadelic puke. Also, recently I found on a Friday night they had hired some girl to stand outside, and look pretty and ask if you want cheap double shots. Not a great idea to get me in!

Enigma Wine Bar, Rochester

It seemed like a posh, hoity-toity type of place to go. I went in anyway, just to give it a go. Brilliant place! Well worth the visit, had a great time, the barstaff were all friendly and there was a great party atmosphere. The beer garden was alright too, with awnings covering some tables for you to smoke at if you smoke! Not sure what this place is like away from a Friday/Saturday night... but if you're out on a Friday or Saturday night, definitely give this place a go!

The Rising Sun, Rochester

This pub is the worst pub in the world. I am yet to find a pub that would rival this for poor atmosphere, and people in there are all unemployed spending their benefits. Well okay, it just seems that way. I would NEVER go in there, again. Once was enough for me to be scared enough to leave after my pint.

The Nags Head, Rochester

This pub is a really good little pub, every now and then they have a band playing and they're usually actually quite good. I saw a Ska band play in here not too long ago that were really good, and the crowd were having a great time there. The beer is always flowing, and it's usually busy in the evenings. During the day the atmosphere changes a bit, and I wouldn't really bother with it during the day as it seems quite boring in there.

The jukebox has a great selection of music, as stated before. Also, the new small "smoking area" out the back is very, very welcome! It's small but I've gotten involved in a few "smokers chats" out there.

Toilets are alright, nothing to shout about but clean! I tried food in the pub a few times during the day, and I must say it was actually quite good. The Pub sandwiches are worth it here. The pool table is not bad either, it's only 50p a game so I don't mind that the table is a little rough around the edges. Also, this pub has a nice welcome atmosphere, and I don't feel uncomfortable at all here.

Great pub!

The Man of Kent Ale House, Rochester

I am not really happy with this pub, it makes me feel uncomfortable in there. There seems to be a lot of gypsies/traveller types that come to this pub. Aside from that, the beer and ales are alright - the variety is interesting but I go to the pub for the atmosphere - not just for local ales/beers. Sometimes, it almost seems there are private parties going on there on a regular basis... quite intimidating.
