Kings Arms, St Just

What a strange place! Seems to open and close at random. Went in on a Saturday night recently at 10.45pm only to be told that it was shut and that I should use one of the other pubs. Another night that week it didn't seem to open at all. Seems to be more interested in selling food although the beer I did manage to get one lunchtime was fine and the service friendly. I would suggest that you avoid this place and go to a real pub such as The Wellington (for beer & food), The Star (for beer & atmosphere) or The Commercial (guaranteed to get a seat!)

The Florence Arms, Southsea

Visited here several times recently when visiting the lad at Uni. Always a warm welcome and if there's a seat available, a great place to while away the evening drinking the excellent cider and beer. Mr Whitehead's cider was particularly good.

The Hole in The Wall, Southsea

Visited here several times recently when visiting the lad at Uni. Oakleaf Hole Hearted was very good, as was the Thatchers from the barrel. Friendly, efficient service. Seats are at a premium, or at least were on the Saturday early evening I visited, but don't let that put you off.
