The Enterprise, Holborn

The decor is very nice, spot on, not too tarty.

They have a little sun trap out the back, but if you want to get a seat out there this summer you will have to be there about five o clock to beat the office rush.

Good place for a lunchtime beer. The food is nice, the beer is good and the barmaids are spot on.

My current favourite Holborn watering hole.

Sharkeys, Hull

I took my girlfriend in here, and its nearly always trebles for singles on all the spirits, so if you can stand up when you come out its a miracle.

We were talking about this pub the other day, and I insisted she had been in and she insisted she had not. 'Sharkeys' rang no bell with her, but the place that does trebles for singles rang loud and clear.

On a Thursday and Friday night can get very busy. Probably gets a little bit less busy now since George Street has died off.

The Rugby Tavern, Hull

It used to be the case that if you went in there on most days, you could see Flash Flanagan, ex Hull and Rovers star of the sixties, in there supping, and have a beer with him.

The last time I went in here, they had Ayingebrau Pils on tap, which was 6.5%. Absolutely vicious brew for lunchtime drinking when I worked on George Street.

Marvellous.

Nice atmosphere. Plenty of black and white photos (and some of the other team as well - ha) for a nice history of rugby in Hull.

And anyone that knows anything about drinking and visits Hull usually pays a visit to the Rugby Tavern.

I found a Rugby Tavern in London recently, in Holborn, but it wasnt really the same. They play Union down there you know.
