Golden Lion, Rochford

At last a professional run pub with fantastic real ales (award winning I believe). Lager is palatable and thirst quenching. Locals seem friendly with a nice oldie worldly ambiance.

Downside bar staff seem unfriendly to strangers with no please or thank you.

If you can tolerate the bar staff then this pub is recommended..

The Kings Head, Rochford

The positives are, good real ale lively during music nights.

Downside, lagers are tangy with an unpleasant after taste.
Staff are unhelpful and seem more interested in sitting in the corner doing crosswords or suduko. Failing that they are outside smoking oblivious to customers walking out due to lack of service.

Apart from music nights this place is desolate and quiet. Nice quiet drink in the afternoon you might think ? No chance the eccentric landlord will then turn on his music equipment blasting a 110 decibels of rock music and Mic feedback.

The Rose And Crown, Rochford

This Pub started very well under new ownership, the food has now gone due to lack of interest. You are now left with bad vinegary tasting ale, lager that has sediment floating in it, very low stock levels of spirits, unhelpful bar staff, and often flooded smelly toilets.

Its such a shame as Tanya previously run an immaculate perfect pub with a good customer base. The new Landlord is oblivious to the the above and let good customers find alternatives.

Even the cleanliness has lapsed to a state of poor hygiene...
