The Crown, Victoria Park

Went back to Victoria park where I grew up to see the England v Italy game (World Cup) on my way home from work. After Getting a doombar £3.95 and ordered chicken crochets and chips (£9.95). The place looks very warm and friendly and a young crowd of trendy middle class's (I guess?) make up the clientele. In fact the Italians outnumbered the English who seemed only mildly interested in the football (well they must be middle class then). I had two pints in all, so that's £8, the meal was a was an absolute rip off £10 for 3 chicken crochets and ordinary oven chips which I demolished in about 1 minute. The thing Is, kinda new it was going to be crap just looking at the menu, half of it was crossed off and it al sounded poncy anyway. But I had the munchies and just wanted to settle down to the game.
It was a nice environment, but expensive and I would never eat here. I think there was only two genuine East Enders in the whole pub other than myself. Not that I am against the new money moving in. I quite like seeing young smart and happy people wherever I go. There are still plenty of real estdnders about, but they ain't coming in this pub. I would guess they are priced out. I think it is pretty much the same all around hackney now.
