Den Engel, Leek

I've been to Den Engel's lots of times since it first opened, but last night was the first time I've been to the restaurant. I booked it although we were the only ones there. I think the weather probbly put people off that night.

Food was excellent and service great. Can't fault it. Portions didn't look much but did fill both of us up. That's a sign of a really good meal. For starters I had Ham Hock Terrine with Chutney (can't remember which chutney). I could detect many different flavours in it and was just enough for a starter. I had oxtail with mashed potato for main. The meat was perfect, nice and tender and so tasty. Had chocolate pecan brownie for dessert. Again it was gorgeous, served with cream and ice cream too.

Excellent value and the restaurant is really nice too. Can imagine it must be brill in summer with the balcony open.
