All change here now - out have gone Sky, the banners for disco nights etc and in has come quality real ale. Last couple of visits have seen 6 ales on, including Brewer's Gold, Wherry, Nethergate Suffolk County amongst others. Very friendly and well worth a visit - the rarity that is a good proper pub in Bury.

Visted the Hawkedon Queens Head for first time recently. A lovely cosy beamed pub with a good selection of beers (Brewer's Gold and Adnams on amongst others) and ciders. We were there for food and had a great roast - a delicious slab of rare roast beef. The pub felt very much like a friendly locals pub - a real community effort. We were made to feel very welcome and struck up conversations left, right and centre. All very impressive considering a lot of people must travel there for the tucker. All boxes ticked for me - as Tommyn says an excellent pub.

Rose and Crown, Bury St Edmunds
This pub has hardly changed in my lifetime, went in recently after 10 years away from Bury and it seemed the same as it ever was. No frills, just a proper local pub, possibly the last in Bury town centre. I've only been down a couple of times recently, but usually one guest on and then GK ales. The only place in town (that I know of) to sell Greene King XX Mild, which I am rather fond of. This pub is family run, and all the more special in a town where the usual style of my pub management is to try and shoehorn a square bar type peg into a round historical pub hole hole. Long may the Rose and Crown continue unchanged. (oh, and food wise you can pick up snacks like beans on toast for a couple of quid).
