The Royal Shepherd Inn, Skipton

Having recently revisited this pub, I'm pleased to change my opinion. There is a friendly atmosphere, staff are pleasant and the beer was good. Feels like a proper local pub.

The Royal Shepherd Inn, Skipton

I liked this pub before it changed hands. I visited again under the new management in June 2012; my husband and I were the only customers. I was served a dreadful pint of one of a Copper Dragon ale which was totally undrinkable. I was told it's supposed to be taste that way. I'd just enjoyed this ale in another pub in Skipton and know what it should taste like. Not only was the landlord happy to serve vinegar in place of ale, but he refused to change the pint. That is unforgiveable and shortsighted.
When a new customer came in and asked for the same ale, he was served it with the comment that 'it is an acquired taste'. Doubly insulting as it was obviously a barb aimed at me. (I left so I don't know if the chap drank it.)
