Profile information

I am a post-grad at York University, and based pretty much all the time in York. Because of this, most of my comments etc. apply to the York area, but I love to nip into the occasional pub while travelling, walking or seeing friends.
I have to admit to a preference for what I would describe as "proper" pubs, but like good bars, and more nightlife orientated places as well.
I also particularly enjoy good beers, of the none mainstream variety, real-ale and good pub grub.

I hope that you find any comments I post interesting and helpful, cheers.

The Melbourne Arms, Melbourne

Just visited the Melbourne Arms today for a soft drink and some lunch on a walk along Pocklington Canal. Seems like a lovely place, busy and popular on a Sunday for lunches, and serving a couple of real ales. Our food was very nice, we sat out the front and enjoyed the sun. I would recommend a visit.

The Greyhound Inn, Stogursey

Very nice pleasant village pub, with a couple of real ales, and a nice selection of cider as well. Popped in for a couple of pints a use of their WiFi. We were made to feel very welcome.
Sadly the landlord & landlady were in their last week in the pub before moving on, so hopefully it is still being well looked after.

The Ship Tavern, Holborn

A very nice, back lane, narrow, city centre pub. Well worth seeking out if you are in the area. Busy and bustling after work, but still friendly to strangers. They had a nice selection of ales to choose from.
I'll definitely return when I can.
