The Chessington Oak, Chessington

The food and beer in this place are good and very reasonably priced.
Unfortunately some of the people who use this place tend to ruin the experience. I was in for a meal with the family on Friday afternoon and there was a large crowd in the restaurant area who were letting their kids run amok.

You cant blame the kids because the adults were not setting them a very good example by shouting across the room and generally behaving like scum while other customers were eating.

When the barman politely asked them to control their kids, one ignorant bloke became aggressive towards him, which made the atmosphere even more unpleasant.

We had already ordered our food, otherwise there is no way we would have stayed. It's a nice place but it's a shame that ignorant scum like this have to inflict themselves upon the rest of us...

The Blacksmiths Arms, Adversane

Stopped here for a pint last weekend and ordered a pint of fosters. When it arrived I went out to the beer garden, took a slurp and it was warm.
I took it back inside to complain and the owner informed me that there is nothing wrong with any of the draught beers, except that the cooler doesnt work, like that was acceptable.

I was amazed at his response and which was a complete contradiction in itself. Does he really think that anyone drinking there might actually think a warm pint of lager is acceptable?

If the lager is warm then of course theres something wrong with it! I wasnt satisfied with his response so offered to give me my money back but I said I would prefer a bottle of lager from the fridge (which was working - hooray!).
The barman then went on to quibble with me over the extra 5 pence it costs for a bottle which I would not pay on principle. Not my fault your cooling system doesnt work!

Above all Im surprised the owner of this place seriously thinks its OK to serve warm pints of lager. I wont be returning.
