The Fishes, North Hinksey Village

This is a place you could to take your mum, or your poncey london mates when they visit. It has full-on restaurant action in the back (the mixed fish/meat starters are brilliant), and relaxed newspaper reading pub in the front. In the summer the garden is a picnic/bbq area where they supply the food. Also picturesque. Do it!

I believe this is now The Mole Inn, so is probably closed.

The Vine Inn, Cumnor

Rather lacklustre place serving ok food. Not going to win any awards, but if it's your local you could do worse. Then again, if you're local you're probably one of those in the other half of the pub with the tatoos.
