Profile information

As well as decent, well kept real ales, I like bar staff that are knowledgeable, friendly and don't need to be asked to top up to a full pint. I like to be able to hear myself talk although a bit of life is more than welcome. Local charm and character is best as is a range of beers different to the norm.

If I am out for a crawl with my friends we like to try at least one new pub each time in amongst our old favourites.

I don't like chain Pubs that destroy originality and force their bland beer on you.

The Old Plough House Inn, Duloe

Re-opened as a Resturant Bar by the nearby Barclay House in Looe. Still perfectly usable as a pub though with Doom, Tribute and Proper Job on when we visited. The beer was good and served in the right glasses. It did have a bit of a restauranty feel about it and the food was indeed very good. We stopped by three times and ate twice within a week so I can give it the thumbs up.

The Clockhouse, Clerkenwell

Closed and reincarnated as the Craft Beer Co.

If you like real ale you'll love the new pub

The Craft Beer Co, City of London

Very impressed but not surprised after the success of their sister pub The Cask Pub and Kitchen in Pimlico.

This one has more of a traditional pub feel with a beer selection and quality of presentation second to none.

It is only day three and if it gets any better prepare to die and go to heaven.

Well done Martin, Peter and the team
