The One Eyed Rat, Ripon

This pub is a gem for Ripon. It doesn't do food. If you are a local (like me) you can partake in the Sunday lunchtime biscuits with cheese and nibbles sometimes laid on the bar. Black Sheep Bitter and Tim Taylors Landlord are on full time. The other four pumps change continually serving fine ales from all around the country. Konig Pils and Oranjeboom are there. Fruit wines and also a good selection of wines from the local wine merchant. Oh, and there are a selection of continental bottled beers to try as well. And.... it has a fantastic beer garden where Sundays drift away happily. Privately owned, the landlord proposes to retire later this year (2004) so hope is put on it being bought by someone who will keep it very much the same. Well worth a visit!
