The Queen's Head, Nutfield

I booked in seven ladies for dinner this week. I have to say that the food we had was awful. I had the chicken livers served on a bed of salad and dressed with a balsamic dressing, sounds nice. What it actually was - over cooked liver seved on raw spinach, grated carrott, parsnips peelings with a pile of beef gravy and balsamic vinegar, it looked like pedigree chum!. A couple of us had the pate served with a plum chutney, what was actually served was three thin slivers of pate served with cherry pie filling and one chunk of toast and a salad which consists of parsnip peels, red onion and very little else. The tomato and mozerella salad served with fresh salad actually was awful tomatoes served with the a very doubtable cheese (perhaps the cheap mozarella that you put on pizzas) It was like trying to eat a high way cone. Soup had no flavour. Pint of prawns was the only starter not mucked up.
Two people had the beef something with rice, tatsed of very little and contained 5 chunks of beef but several mushrooms. One of us had a fish pie with salmon etc.. this was sloppy, burnt around the edges and badly presented. I had a medium rare sirloin with a garlic and mushroom sauce a huge mound of luke warm fries and you've guessed it the odd parsnip concoction salad. The steak was rare but was ok, just ok, the sauce was nice. We had a great pudding becauce I bought a chocolate cake from Marks and Spencers and we had that. The manager was surly but the waitress was good and pleasant, embarrased I am sure. It's a real shame because with a good cook all of these dishes are achievable. Please Queens Head don't ever make that salad again and ditch all the things that you can't cook
