The Shoulder of Mutton, Heworth

Following mountainman's good report, I tried out this pub for the Pork Pie and Cider Festival this holiday (Sat. 27th Aug. 2011). The pub was humming with pie afficionados and we had a great time nibbling the pastry, sampling the jelly, checking the meat and the overall scoffability of 10 pork pies by local butchers. I found a great ale to wash them down with too, but there were loads of ciders on for people to sup their way through. Jack Merry, the landlord, has plenty to do here renovating the place but he's made a great start.
