The Market Hotel, Reigate

Quite simply the worst pub I have ever been to. An anomaly in Reigate, as it's generally full of wine bar/ bistro type pubs, so the existence of this place perplexes me. Ignorant staff, horrific food, the ambiance of a Giro cheque queue, avoid if you have an iq greater than your age. Great potential, as it's a lovely old building, just needs new management, new name, and new clientele.

The Admiral, Reigate

A really great pub. A good selection of beers, wines and spirits and a friendly atmosphere make this pub a winner. The owners are friendly and the sofas are a welcome addition. Recommended.

The Crown, Old Basing

Having recently moved to The Topiary in Lychpit, Old Basing from London, we scouted around for good pubs, and after much looking, the Crown is our favourite. The atmosphere of the old building, the location, right in the heart of historic Old Basing and the frindliness of the bar staff are all first rate. The food is excellent, whenever we have guests to stay, we book a table, and have got to know the staff quite well! The one downside is that it is a little small in the winter time when the garden is unavailable, but that just adds to the cosy, exclusive feel to the place. We went to The Crown for New Years Eve 2005, paying �25 pounds per ticket, and were promised a glass of champagne, a top class buffet (smoked salmon, king prawns etc) and a disco. The night was fantastic, our guests loved the place and always want to go back whenever they come to stay. Peter is a great Barman as are all the staff, very friendly, professional and well organised. Beverage selection is good, offering ales on tap, kronenburg etc on draft, and a good selection of spirits (including more unique offerings such as Goldschlager, Jegermeister etc).

A thoroughly fabulous pub. If you are in the area, pop in and say Hello!
