My first visit to the Three Compasses despite having lived in the area for years. We went on the recommendation of the landlady at the Sun in Dunsfold as we managed to turn up too late for lunch there - the Compasses serves all day.
Locals and staff were very friendly, excellent HSB and Horsham Bitter (they also had Fortyniner and one other that I don't remember on tap). Sunday lunch was excellent - not gastro, but just honest traditional roasts etc, with good fresh vegetables. Roast belly of pork particularly good.
There is a function room that is full of prints and photos from the old Hawker/BAe test station at Dunsfold Aerodrome.
Also, do not miss Mac, a very handsome German Shepherd who likes to sleep Snoopy-like, on top of his kennel.
And for the dialectologists out there, this pub appears to be one of last strongolds of the near-extinct West Surrey accent (no, it's nothing like what you are thinking)

A very nice, traditional, dog-friendly country pub. The staff are friendly, beer is well kept and the open fires are great in winter. The lack of TV, jukebox is very welcome. Food is good (particularly the desserts) and well priced. Patrons are a friendly mix ranging from stock brokers to agricultural workers.

The White Hart, Witley
Under new management as of September 2013 and the landlord clearly means business. Still Youngs - well kept bitter and a guest Tribute. It is the food that is really going to shine with this pub however: fantastic roast chicken, triple-cooked chips and Wakelings beef roast to perfection. There are plans to install a smoker and make this a real destination for local carnivores. Mains currently £10 which for the quality is unbeatable.
I live nearby and have seen a succession of landlords try to make a success of the White Hart and I am convinced that the pub now has a great future.
