The Wheatsheaf, Frome

Please disregard the above comments. The pub is now under new management and has been for some time. It is no longer what you would regard as a conventional pub it has now become more of an entertainment venue. Live music / DJ's etc. To get the full picture it would be better to look them up on line to find out more.

The Bell, Rode

I used to be a frequent visitor to this pub but have only recently returned to sample the new look and image. I am sorry to say the experience left me rather cold. My partner am I arrived in the early evening with the intention of sampling the ale and food. The decor is cosy and pleasant, the bar staff greeted us pleasantly but soon decided they would rather chat to each other whilst serving us. We sampled two different ales and both were cloudy and not in very good condition to taste. The barmaid did not even notice the beer was not at its best when she returned with my change, which she just put on the counter and walked away, and when I tried to get her attention she just carried on talking to her collegue. I gave up and turned to the menue. Sadly the presentation of the menue was not eye catching, the food selection uninspiring and the price not inviting. Needless to say we drank up and left. I hope this was just a one off, I will leave it for a while before I try again just to see if they can improve on the experience.

The Cross Keys Inn, Corsley

I am an occasional visitor to this pub and have noted its ups and downs over the years. On my latest visit I was pleased to see the bar fill with lcocals and visitors, I think something has improved. The staff were friendly, the food good and the beer well kept, just a shame that Wadworths think that a guest ale is another Wadworth brew. My only negative is the service, even though I arrived at 6.30 in the evening it took over 3/4 of an hour to get a menue, being told they had to wait for the specials to be written up. After another long wait I had to remind the chap behind the bar that I was waiting to order. Eventually someone took our order, only to return a few minutes later to say they had got the specials wrong and it would cost us more money to have the meals we ordered. The meal, by the time it arrived, was good but along with the evening rather spoilt by the poor customer service. To top it off they got the bill wrong, sadly not in my favour. I would not wish to put anyone off from going to this pub as it has a lot going for it but I hope they take note and improve the customer service.
