The Ramblers Rest, Chipstead

Don't bother with this one - it took 15 minutes to get a drink and another 15 to order food on the 30 December 2011. The food (fish and chips and burger and chips) arrived after a 48 minute wait and was not good as had obviously been kept warm in the oven waiting to be served by the barman when he could fit it in. The second drink took another 15 minutes and the barman tried to charge �8 for a mediocre wine which cost �4 first time round...it was quite busy that evening but only one person working the bar and second covering the restaurant coffee and beers. One restaurant waitress was not taking orders from the bar area. The situation is wonderful but can't be seen in the dark. Won't go there again in a hurry.

The Nightingale, Sutton

Went for the first time to the Nightingale and saw live music all Sunday afternoon - just brilliant. Great atmosphere, nice friendly people and the drinks are cheap too.

The Woodman, Carshalton

We've been going to the Woodman on Thursdays for the karioke for ages now and found the place dead last week. Dont know why but the male bar staff were bad tempered and slow and no sign of the normal buzz...probably the enormous screens sapping the atmosphere - where else can we go?
